Hi there!
I would need to convert my TW5 TMs to TW7 format and am not able to find basic instructions here or at Translationzone.
Please, refer me to previous posts of other reference. Unfortunately I've not been able to get it.
Thanks in advance!
María José

Hi María José:
I am not with version 7 but 6.5. But after being using Trados since version 3, I have never need to do anything when updating. Just open the TM with the new Trados version and it runs smoothly.

but I would export everything TM has into a bilingual TMX (or txt) and then reimport the contents in the 7 version.
To be more concise:
a) under previos version you go through all your TMs one by one and
a1) open them
a2) use export to create the TMX/txt version of the TM
b) under 7 version
b1) create TM1 for the first of the previous TMs
b2) import TXT/TMX for into the Tm you just created
b3) do the same for all your TMs of the pre... See more

c) MAKE A BACKUP of them all
I have a 7 version and can help you if there's problems.

Hi Joaquim,
I am not with version 7 but 6.5. But after being using Trados since version 3, I have never need to do anything when updating. Just open the TM with the new Trados version and it runs smoothly.
Although that's possible, it might lead to problems, as the indexation and coding algorithms have changed with each main version.
Vito's suggestion is spot-on: export, re-create (don't use the Copy function for that purpose - create a new TM), and import.
Best regards, Ralf

As Espurna says, I can open Trados 5 TMs with TW7 without problems, but I'll be more comfortable now that I have converted them to Trados 7 format, exactly as Vito suggested, and won't have any TM-format-problem (fingers crossed!), as Ralf foresees.
