How to transfer Microsoft glossary into Multiterm IX

Hello everyone,

i have a dylemma here. I have just downloaded the Microsoft glossary En-Es and i would like to transfer all the excel files into Trados Multiterm IX (for trados 6.5 Freelance).

Do you have some clear guidelines on how to do this? Has any of you undergone a similar situation before?

Converting Microsoft glossaries Sep 27, 2005

You should be able to use MultiTerm Convert, which can convert CSV files to termbase import files.

Excel version Sep 27, 2005

You should tell us which Excel version are you using. Multiterm convert works different according to the Excel version used.

There's no need to use Excel at all. Microsoft glossaries are available in CSV format, which is a generic (not Excel-proprietary) format.

The MS glossaries I downloaded a long time ago were in Excel format. You've helped me twice in a day! Should I be twice grateful? Nooo, you deserve more than that!

Could you or someone explain or point out where the Convert option or tool is located in MultiTerm Convert (is this a part of MultiTerm ix ?)

MT Convert is the conversion tool. This is installed with MTiX 6.2.x or higher. Choose the Spreadsheet or database exchange format option to convert .csv files.
