Win align error Thread poster: eva75

"Syntaxe du nom de fichier, de répertoire ou de volume incorrecte."
I keep receiving this error message when I finish aligning in Win Align. I think the latest version recognizes .doc, so conversion to .rtf is not necessary, so I don't know why the alignment won't work.

Hi Eva,
You did not mention which version you're using - does the "latest version" refer to 6.5.5.441? Although you can specify .doc files, WinAlign still converts them to RTF. Is there an error number?

That was a quick reply.
I think the following is the error code:
AlignmentID.cpp:line101
I'm not sure of the exact version, sorry!

Hi again,
I think the following is the error code:
AlignmentID.cpp:line101
Actually, I was looking for an error number, as I need the exact error message in English. Can you please post the full and exact error message given? Also, at which point in the alignment process does the error occur?
I'm not sure of the exact version, sorry!
Go to Help - About... to check.
Best, Ralf

"Syntax or name of file, folder, or volume incorrect." is a rough translation of the error message.
I can't check the version of Win Align, as the software is installed an another computer.
Ralf Lemster Germany Local time: 17:46 English to German + ... *Precise* error message, plus error number | May 29, 2005 |
Hi Eva,
I can read French, so I'm aware of what the message means - to search for clues (in the Trados Knowledge Base, for example), it would be much easier (and less time-consuming) to work with the exact message (preferably, with the error number). Also, the precise point in the alignment process is important (see my previous queries). This is not necessarily a Trados issue - the error message could also be triggered by your operating system.

The Win align error I have been getting is 123. Tried looking for this number in the Trado's Knowledge Base, but didn't find it. If this isn't the error number, I don't know what is!

Was solved by changing some separator in My Computer>Regional settings. I think it was the separator *;* the Winalign didn't like, but I don't know why nor do remember precisely.

Hi,
Maybe this link from the Trados support KB can help.
http://support.trados.com/view.asp?cntID=446
When saving a project in WinAlign, I get the error message "123: The file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."

I have tried doing both of the tips above and none has worked.
Closing all other programs didn't work nor did changing the seperator in my settings.
Seems as if there is a bug!
