I haven’t had a late payment for some time now. I even have a few very dear customers who pay the day after receiving my invoice, most of the others at 30 days, one or two at 45 days. I know I have been quite lucky (and I have developed a nose for bad payers) as in over 40 years I only had 3 clients who didn’t pay me at all (small sums), though I had like everyone else a few late payments.

And it is always the same two clients. Yet, they always pay after about 3 weeks delay.
So, until now I have forgiven them - after some frustrated reprimand from my side.

Payment problems Feb 18

roughly about 30 percent of annual turn-over is lost through corporate clients or agencies who don't pay. In most cases the refusal of payment results from claims related to text revision which are often unjustified. In Germany and France quiete a number of clients pretend quality issues to avoid payment. In the worse case I had worked for 3 weeks without getting paid. I recommend to request a downpayment if new customers come up with large projects!
