Studio 2011: Efficiency of using a TM over home network

Hi all,

I would like to ask to my colleagues whether it is efficient to use a TM over the home network. You know each time you confirm a segment, that segment goes to the TM in the other computer at home. Would this cause any trouble or any decrease in the performance? Does anybody have any experience?

Hi Hamid,

I have used DVX2 Workgroup version with COM+ Server, it was fast and reliable. What is your CAT tool?

Why don't you just try it and see how it goes?

Thanks for the answer. My CAT Tool is SDL Trados Studio 2011, and I am planning to use regular MS Windows 7 Home Premium's home network feature.

Just make sure that you're using a gigabit network and that the TM is located on a fast disk or NAS. You'll notice the difference when you use large -- or a large number of -- TMs.
