English to Spanish: INTA's role as 'Amicus Curiae' (excerpt)
Source text - English While most jurisdictions in Europe do not have the system of 'amicus curiae' in the classic sense of joining legal proceedings as an independent party, in proceedings such as a trademark infringement case or a cancellation case, a party an file declarations or affidavits to support its position as an annex to its own briefs. INTA has more than a century of exprience in trademark law, and is an excelent body to offer the possibility of an 'amicus curiae' brief in a trademark litigation in Europe.
So far, INTA has supported three companies in cases before the European Court of Justice, concerning cases on grey imports, the protection on colourmarks and sound marks. If a company would like to have INTA support in a trademark case pending before any tribunal or trademark office in Europe, it can submit a referral to INTA's international headquarters in New York (...).
