Boi Tira Teima
O Boi Tira Teima foi criado no dia 5 de outubro de 1922, como mais uma opção para se brincar carnaval. Na época existiam bailes, clubes de frevo e escolas de samba onde só a elite da cidade participava.
Na década de 1920 já existiam outras agremiações semelhantes, a exemplo do Boi Bandeira. Durante as apresentações que costumavam ser na tua da igreja Matriz, os bois brigavam entre si. Era uma brincadeira que divertia muita gente. Essas disputas eram chamadas de “teimas”. Daí o nome do nosso boi. Ele prometia vencer todos as teimas. A estrutura do boi é a mesma desde sua criação, caminhando para o seu centenário.
Atualmente, existe a sede do Boi no bairro das Rendeiras e no Polo Cultural da Estação Ferroviária, no centro da cidade, onde funciona o Centro Cultural. Em ambos além de ser preservado a história do Boi, sendo oferecidas diversas oficinas culturais para comunidades. O boi também se apresenta em eventos e festas em todo lugar do Brasil.

Boi Tira Teima.
Boi Tira Teima was created on October, 5 1922 as one more option to play carnival. In that time there were carnival festivals, clubs for dancing Frevo and samba groups where only people form hight society could be.
In the decade 20 has already existed others groups which were like Boi Tira Teima. Its performances, used to be in the main street in from of the central church, there the Bois fought among themselves. It was a king of play which entertain many people. These competitions were called "teima". The name of our boi comes from the word "teima". It had the promise to winning all the teimas.
The structure of the boi is the same since its creation, walking to the cemetery.
Nowadays there is a place for the boi in Rendeiras district and at Cultural Center at the railway station, in the center of the city, where works the Cultural Center. In both situations, beside being preserved the history of the Boi, they offer some cultural workshops for the community. Boi also be present in events and cultural parties all over Brazil.
Boi Tira Teima – It’s the name of carnival dance group.
Tira Teima – It’s a colloquial term used to see who is the best in a game.
