Billion
An all-in-one mobile solution for cryptocurrency users
Executive summary
Billion is a comprehensive and user-friendly set of tools designed for both active cryptocurrency users and for those who are only starting out in the crypto space. Billion will include all the elements necessary to satisfy the daily needs of a cryptocurrency user: an easy-to-use mobile wallet with support of multiple currencies, a peer-to-peer exchange service with low conversion fees, a marketplace accepting crypto payments, a guaranteed courier delivery service, a financial messenger, and an investment platform. The first module of the Billion ecosystem – Billion Wallet – is already available for iOS.
The first chapter of the present White Paper serves as an introduction to the emerging decentralized economics and smart contracts. It provides a handy classification and all the necessary definitions, as well as explores the advantages offered by cryptocurrencies.
In Chapter 2, we explore current growth trends in the cryptocurrency market and the possible role of digital currencies in the future of the economy. We then provide a detailed analysis of the main issues of the crypto market that are preventing a wider adoption. These problems include the complexity of existing applications and platforms, poor design, high fees, and limited real-world usage.
Chapter 3 provides an overview of the Billion solution and the various modules of the ecosystem, such as Billion Wallet, Billion Change, Billion Things, Billion Go, Financial Social Network messenger, and others. We explore the innovative use of technologies like SegWit and BIP47 protocol that make Billion tools more secure, affordable, fast, and convenient than its competitors.
Finally, Chapter 4 is dedicated to more technical aspects of the Billion ecosystem, including revenue sources, token types, key facts about the token emission, benefits for investors, and the model of company ownership and profit distribution. In particular, the allocation of the platform’s revenue among its token holders will constitute a novelty on the market and provide Billion with an additional competitive advantage.
Chapter 1. Introduction to decentralized systems
1.1. Decentralized systems & Bitcoin
Innovative technologies based on cryptography and decentralization are rapidly becoming part of everyday life. Millions of people already own cryptocurrency, and it is reasonable to expect that in a few years an extremely wide range of transactions will be carried out in a decentralized fashion – without intermediaries and without any need for trust-based systems. Such decentralized structures are based on distributed data ledgers, the most famous of which is blockchain. These systems are more efficient than traditional centralized schemes, and their code ensures a level of fairness and transparency seldom found in other models of global economy.
Bitcoin was the first decentralized system: it was created in 2010 by an individual or a group of people using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto (the concept of Bitcoin is succinctly described in the original White Paper ). In the years that have passed, Bitcoin has firmly established itself as the leader among cryptocurrencies. In spite of certain scaling issues, Bitcoin is becoming ever more popular as a means of payment and an investment asset. The reason for its success lies in the fact that the Bitcoin network does not belong to any particular person, and bitcoins themselves are a deflationary currency, meaning that their value will increase with time, because the maximum number of bitcoins is finite.
1.2. Blockchain – functions and classification
The growth of Bitcoin’s popularity, together with the uninterrupted functioning of its ecosystem over the last ten years made entrepreneurs led to the natural question of whether other types of data can be stored in a distributed ledger. As it turned out, the new technology fit well into many industries, from banking to protection of digital intellectual property. Attempts at implementing decentralized structures in other spheres of businesses have led to the emergence of new blockchain types.
In August 2015, creator of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin published a detailed classification of existing blockchains. Buterin divided them into three types: fully private blockchains, consortium blockchains, and public blockchains. He explained the difference thus:
A public blockchain is a blockchain that anyone in the world can read, anyone in the world can send transactions to and expect to see them included if they are valid, and anyone in the world can participate in the consensus process…A consortium blockchain is a blockchain where the consensus process is controlled by a pre-selected set of nodes; for example, one might imagine a consortium of 15 financial institutions… A fully private blockchain is a blockchain where write permissions are kept centralized to one organization. ”
These types of blockchains have received different names in the report prepared by the UK Government’s Chief Scientist, Sir Michael Walport . The report was dedicated to distributed ledgers and the potential of blockchain as a tool of political governance. The following types of ledgers were identified: non-permissioned public ledgers, permissioned public ledgers, and permissioned private ledgers.
In both classifications, various blockchain types differ in the set of rights given to different groups of users. In "closed" blockchains, members usually have different rights: some can approve transactions and edit the ledger, while others can only read the ledger and track changes.
Many blockchain enthusiasts believe that the presence of administrators in private blockchains makes them overly centralized, which contradicts the original blockchain model. However, the appearance of blockchains that require a consensus of a limited number of users is justified by at least two objective reasons:
1) A fully decentralized consensus scheme works well only when all the participants have access to all the information necessary to approve a transaction. This is only possible for on-chain assets, such as Bitcoin. Everyone in the network knows how many Bitcoins have been mined by the moment of the transactions, and the blockchain allows to track the movement of each Bitcoin across the network. But in case of a transaction dealing with off-chain assets, far from all members of a network or organization (be it a company, a city or a whole country) can have access to full information. Thus, it is impossible to include all users in the process of achieving consensus and verifying transactions.
2) Much of the information that can be verified using blockchain has traditionally been verified by the state (such as real estate property rights, for instance). Thus, even if ordinary network users could verify such transactions on a blockchain, in most countries such a scheme would be legally void.
1.3. Possibilities offered by cryptocurrencies and smart contracts
1.3.1. Advantages of cryptocurrencies
The emergence of cryptocurrencies and smart contract platforms open a range of new possibilities for automating financial and other processes and speeding up technological progress. It is a completely new paradigm for regulating property rights and a radically new mechanism of interaction between computers.
Digital currencies have a number of clear advantages over traditional (fiat) money. They can be used to make fast and secure money transfers between people or computers – without intermediaries and regardless of the distance. Cryptocurrencies form the basis for efficient economic interactions in the new world of decentralized systems.
Existing conservative institutions will be forced to adapt, since they won’t be able to contain the spread of this new technology.
1.3.2. Smart contracts
In 1994, Nick Szabo– legal professional and cryptographer – developed the concept of smart contracts based on a distributed ledger, which are also called self-executing or digital contracts. According to Szabo, “smart contracts reference that property in a dynamic, often proactively enforced form, and provide much better observation and verification where proactive measures must fall short.” Such contracts can be written down as sequences of code, saved and replicated in the system, while their execution is guaranteed by a network of computers governing a blockchain. Such ledgers can also be used to make money transfers and purchase goods and services.
Moreover, unlike traditional agreements, smart contracts not only contain information on the parties’ liabilities and fines for non-compliance, but also automatically ensure that all the terms of the contract are adhered to.
At a certain moment, a smart contract confirms the parties’ compliance with all the terms of the contract and automatically determines if a specified asset should be transferred to one of the parties or be immediately restituted to another party (though the actual terms can be more complicated). All this time the document is stored and replicated on a distributed ledger, guaranteeing its security and not allowing any of the parties to change the terms of the agreement.
Smart contracts allow users to create digital agreements that will invariably be complied with. Since computers can measure time using blocks on a blockchain, smart contracts can compare data from different blockchains and ensure that parties in such an agreement adhere to the terms.
Chapter 2. Market expansion and industry issues
2.1. Growth of the cryptocurrency market and mid-term forecasts
In the next ten years, cryptocurrencies may become a mainstream payment solution – this is the conclusion made by the authors of a study conducted the New Imperial College in London together with the British cryptocurrency platform eToro. Further, the authors a report entitled “Cryptocurrencies: overcoming barriers of trust and adoption” - Prof. William Knottenbelt and Dr. Zeynep Gurguc - note that cryptocurrencies are a natural next step in the development of money.
Finally, venture investment pioneer Tim Draper is convinced that in the next ten years market capitalization of cryptocurrencies will reach $100 trillion, with the share of Bitcoin equaling 10% of the market. At the same time, the use of fiat money will gradually decrease. Draper claims that the first serious shift is to take place in the next four years, when people start paying in crypto more and more often.
2.2. Cryptocurrencies as a solution for developing countries
Market experts forecast that in the near future the use of cryptocurrencies will grow explosively and large numbers of people in both developed and developing countries will start paying for goods and services with cryptocurrency. However, it is in the poorest countries that the development of cryptocurrencies will make the most profound change, giving them access to the global market .
According to the statistics published by the World Bank, over two billion people on the planet have no access to banking services . These people have to bank accounts and credit cards, making developing markets ideal for implementing alternative transaction types. In order to use cryptocurrencies, one does not need access to the existing financial infrastructure. All one needs is a mobile device and Internet access – which people in developing countries already have.
2.3. Issues of cryptocurrency adoption
Even though the cryptocurrency market is experiencing explosive growth, cryptocurrency ownership and storage requires a completely new set of skills from users and presently has a rather steep learning curve. The industry is plagued by problems that scare off many potential users and slow down mass adoption. Even though there are thousands of tech-savvy individuals in the U.S. and Europe who have already mastered wallets, keys, and exchanges, for hundreds of millions of others cryptocurrencies remain too complex and not secure enough.
a) Custody and security
The problem of keeping one’s money secure is not unique to crypto, of course. When dealing with fiat money, individuals have to keep their normal, physical wallet from getting stolen or lost, they have to memorize their credit card PIN code and block the card if they lose it, and there is always a risk that their bank or asset management firm can lose the license. However, traditional financial institutions have had decades to develop security mechanisms, while crypto is still so new that its custody remains a big problem.
Users are required to protect the private keys to their crypto wallets and memorize and store away long passphrases, or “seeds” – sequences of 12-24 words that are required to restore access to funds if something happens to their computer or wallet. But even if users do manage to keep their keys safe, wallets and digital exchanges still get hacked. The five largest crypto hacks have led to a combined loss of $1 billion for their users . And while hacks of individual crypto wallets usually don’t lead to such significant losses (though they can be significant to their owners), hackers did recently steal $50 million from Blockchain.info wallets and a 15-year old hacker managed to gain access to the supposedly very secure Ledger wallet .
b) Complexity
Even if a potential user is not turned off by the security risks, he or she will most probably be baffled by the sheer complexity of the systems that have to be learned. One needs to master wallets with their keys and passphrases, which all have different interfaces overloaded with features. Besides, users are often forced to have several online and offline wallets to store and exchange all the cryptocurrencies they use, which means storing several sets of keys and learning each wallet's interface.
Moreover, wallet creators want to teach users to think in terms of cryptocurrency only, without any link to traditional money. As a result, users are confronted with multiple exchange rates between cryptocurrencies, numerous abbreviations and symbols, and long wallet and contract addresses instead of names of contacts. It is difficult to understand how much one is spending in fiat money, because often sums are quoted in crypto only.
The interfaces themselves often feature very poor UI/UX. Even such popular wallets as Bread Wallet, MyEtherWallet, Coinbase, and Trezor offer confusing interfaces that will frustrate anyone who has never used crypto before. Even worse, many wallets are not properly adapted for use on mobile devices (for instance, MetaMask cannot be used on a smartphone at all), and few have native apps for iOS.
As for exchanges, they too are simply too complicated for an average person without a deep knowledge of IT and financial trading. Numerous tables, graphs, and exchange rates can be intimidating; all exchanges have different currency pairs and different fees; and often one has to use more than one exchange to perform the desired operation.
The situation gets even more frustrating when a user wants to change from fiat money to crypto or vice versa. Far from all exchanges allow fiat conversions, and even those who do usually work only with USD, EUR, and a couple other major currencies. For users who would like to receive the money in their own local fiat currency, the process often includes dealing with more than one exchange, resulting in very high fees, or use a p2p exchange service (see below). Revolut banking platform has partially solved the issue, but its functionality is limited: for example, it is impossible to buy cryptocurrency at an exchange using a Revolut card (one must make a SEPA transfer), and cryptocurrency transfer options are very limited.
c) Costs
Cryptocurrency and token transactions are sometimes touted as “zero-fee”, but in reality it is seldom so. Exact costs depend on the chosen method of exchange.
Since Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency and serves as a benchmark for all others, it is not surprising that many people first choose to buy bitcoins for fiat money and then convert it into the cryptocurrency of their choice.
Exchange transactions between Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies are easy, streamlined, and affordable: one rarely loses more than 0.5% on such an operation – not more than converting cash dollars into another currency when travelling abroad. However, converting fiat money into Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and back is a completely different matter: it is a complex, multistep, and expensive process, with compound fees sometimes reaching 10%. Thus, to cover for these losses users are forced to leave their crypto in their accounts long enough for its price to grow sufficiently so as to compensate for the fees.
Any of the existing methods of exchanging between fiat and crypto has its shortcomings. Large centralized exchanges, such as Coinbase and Gemini, are highly regulated by the authorities and are therefore forced to charge high commissions to cover their legal expenses and risks. For instance, Coinbase charges 3.99% on all credit card conversions and Bitfinex charges at least $20 per deposit.
d) Special case: P2P exchanges
In the p2p model, users publish ads on a platform, advertising how much cryptocurrency they desire to buy or sell, and the desired price. Once a willing counteragent is found, the chosen amount of crypto is sent into escrow storage while the side that is purchasing the crypto transfers fiat money to the other side using any convenient means (bank transfer, credit card, PayPal, local online payment systems, or event cash during an in-person meeting). After the transfer of fiat money is confirmed, the cryptocurrency is released from the escrow and sent to the buyer of crypto. In spite of their apparently democratic and accessible nature, p2p exchanges do charge fees: for instance, the most popular platform – LocalBitcoins – charges fees on both those who send their Bitcoins into the platform’s escrow service and those who receive them: currently the fees amount to 0.0008715 mBTC for sending, 0.26144 mBTC for receiving.
Yet another issue of p2p exchanges is that they are far from intuitive: finding the right buyer or seller is not automated, and trade times can be long.
Finally, while the p2p exchange concept is commendable, any platform of this kind needs a safe and mobile-friendly escrow feature to work; unfortunately, among the existing services few can be used efficiently from a smartphone, and their escrow systems raise considerable doubts.
At the same time, it should be noted that the market potential is enormous: LocalBitcoins alone have daily exchange volumes that reach $40 million, and to this one should add p2p exchanges in Southeast Asia, India, Latin America, Iran, and many other regions. For details on how Billion will use this market opportunity, please refer to section 3.4.
e) Limited real-world usage
Even though cryptocurrency evangelists promise that most of the population will be actively using crypto in their everyday life in a few years, so far actual possibilities of paying for goods and services with digital currency are very limited. Some online retailers accept Bitcoin (for instance, Shopify stores, Egifter, and Overstock) via the APIs of BitPay and CoinBase.
Yet another popular idea is issuing co-branded plastic cards that will allow their owners to pay with crypto. However, such payments are based on an intermediary automatically buying the card owner’s crypto and exchanging it for fiat, which is then sent to the vendor. Resulting fees can be so high as to make paying with Bitcoins pointless. In addition, spending limits for non verified accounts usually don’t exceed $1000 (around $2000 for those who pass a KYC procedure), and the amount of clients each startup can thus serve depends on the issuer’s own deposit with a bank, which is usually not particularly large. Moreover, both Visa and MasterCard have recently prohibited the practice of issuing crypto-friendly cards for people living outside the EU and the US.
Chapter 3. Billion – concept, architecture and features
3.1. Overview of the Billion ecosystem
The Billion infrastructure is a framework of services optimized for everyday use:
⦁ Billion Change – platform for fast, user-friendly, and safe cryptocurrency exchanges without intermediaries, based on the peer-to-peer principle;
⦁ Billion Go – courier service that allows any user not just to benefit from delivery services but also to provide these services to others;
⦁ Billion Things – marketplace of goods and services sold for cryptocurrency;
⦁ Billion Invest
All these modules will form part of a single app – a multicurrency wallet that, apart from access to numerous services, will allow users to conclude deals and discuss financial matters in complete privacy through a special messenger. The launch of the complete infrastructure and a specially designed Billion blockchain will give ecosystem participants access to a wide range of everyday services that provide advantages and quality guarantees not found in the world of fiat money.
The Billion app brings together such complex technologies as SPV architecture, SegWit, and Payment Code ID, together with a financial social network (including a messenger and automated payments) and integration of a large number of cryptocurrencies. At the same time, the app boasts high speed, convenience, and simplicity required by smartphone users, as well as a unique interface based on the “three taps” concept: all necessary tools and features can be accessed with no more than 3 taps from the main screen. This interface has become possible thanks to the innovative features offered by iOS12. In order to achieve the best arrangement of the functional elements on the home and other screens, an exclusive design concept was developed, relying on intuitively clear color associations. A special motion design scheme was created to ensure fast and easy access to all the modules.
The Billion interface takes into account all the latest trends in UI/UX (user interface/user experience) and the best practices in the crypto market. This combination makes working with Billion easy and comfortable.
Since a test version of the Billion app has already been released, all iPhone users will be able to appreciate the benefits of using decentralized systems in their daily life. Billion serves not only as the best access point into the world of crypto and smart contracts – it is also a great alternative to the tools presently used by the cryptocurrency market participants.
3.2. Advantages offered by the Billion ecosystem
The ecosystem based on Billion Wallet offers its users multiple advantages compared to most traditional wallets and platforms:
1) Expanded functionality. Billion is much more than a wallet: the ecosystem brings together all the features required by crypto users - from an exchange service and investment pools to an online shopping platform. The all-in-one approach to the app functionality together with a unified, user-friendly interface take cryptocurrency platforms to a new level.
2) Sleek and efficient interface. Billion stands out among crypto apps thanks to its interface in the same way as Apple products stand out among their competition. Billion's innovative visual paradigm makes all key features accessible with just one or two taps, allowing for an extremely intuitive user experience.
3) Mobile-friendly. As cryptocurrencies achieve an ever wider adoption, users will mostly rely on smartphones when sending and receiving cryptocurrency payments and making investments. The Billion app is designed specifically for mobile devices and uses all the latest mobile trends. It is characterized by a minimal number of taps needed for each action, speed, and lack of complex cryptographic sequences.
4) Security. The app does not use outdated verification techniques, such as sms messages and emails. Users retain full control over their private keys, and the app connects to the blockchain without any intermediary servers.
5) Wide opportunities for monetization. Billion users can not just exchange cryptocurrencies and invest in blockchain projects but also open their own business on the platform and earn revenue in crypto. Ecosystem members will be able to sell goods and services, deliver orders from online stores, serve as market experts, etc.
3.3. Billion Wallet
3.3.1. Key characteristics
Up until very recently there wasn’t a single easy-to-use and convenient mobile app that would at the same time serve as a secure solution for interacting with the crypto world, fit in with the decentralization philosophy and have a really simple, streamlined interface. Billion Wallet has all these qualities.
Billion Wallet is a sophisticated crypto wallet created using the latest design trends and wide technological opportunities provided by iOS. It is already available in App Store and will soon be released in Google Play. Billion differs from other wallets as strongly as iPhone differs from all other smartphones. The app is constantly improving and adding new features that are sure to make it one of the market leaders in the near future. Creation of a comprehensive ecosystem around Billion Wallet, with a wide array of useful services, put it in a league of its own, far above ordinary crypto wallets. At the same time, the well thought-out and elegant interface makes Billion much easier to use than existing online banking apps and wallets.
Billion Wallet users will hardly wish to switch to another wallet once they have a chance to appreciate the many features and advantages of Billion:
1) Thanks to the use of Simplified Payment Verification (SPV), the wallet directly synchronizes with the Bitcoin blockchain. This provides users with full control over their funds and eliminates the risk of leaking data on user activity as a result of a hacker attack on intermediary servers. SPV allows to verify that a transaction has been recorded without having to download the whole chain of blocks. The technology was described by Satoshi Nakamoto, but up until now it's only been implemented in a handful of apps.
2) All user scenarios are carried out easily and quickly, requiring no more than three taps.
3) Transaction history is displayed in an easy-to-read way, without long address strings. The exchange rate to the chosen currency is fixed at the moment of the transaction.
4) All key information is available from the home screen of the app, including transaction history with fiat equivalents, send and receive buttons, settings, etc.
5) It is possible to add transaction counterparts into the list of contacts and interact with them without using email addresses and phone numbers. Thanks to the Reusable Payment Codes technology, contacts are stored on the Bitcoin blockchain as long as two users send funds to each other (that is, at least one pair of mutual transfers is present). This also solves the issue of having to copy an address, insert it in a messenger, and send the message: in Billion, all this is done in just one tap.
6) The app eliminates the need for a complex 2-factor authentication: a TouchID or FaceID is enough.
7) Thanks to the implementation of Reusable Payment Codes, a new Bitcoin address is generated each time a user initiates a payment. This solves the problem of address reuse, which compromises privacy. Billion Wallet is the only example of this technology implemented in an iOS app.
8) A convenient system of customizable network fees allows users to save money on non-urgent transfers.
9) The wallet has a number of features common in mobile banking apps, such as payment requests and adding comments to requests and transactions, which will come in handy for most users and significantly improve the experience.
10) Billion Wallet has an in-built aggregator for exchange rate comparison and buying or selling Bitcoin in various regions.
11) Exchange between different cryptocurrencies is extremely easy and intuitive; placing buy and sell orders takes much less time than in traditional crypto apps.
3.3.2. SPV-SegWit architecture
The decentralized structure of the cryptocurrency realm, consisting of a multitude of blockchains, presumes that there is no need for any party in a transaction to trust another. Users only have to trust the records stored on the blockchain. In order to make a system trustless, one has to eliminate the human factor and remove all intermediaries standing between a user and the decentralized system itself: interactions have to be carried out without using third-party servers. The architecture used in the Billion app connects directly to the blockchain and is called Simplified Payment Verification (SPV) Architecture. Simply put, SPV allows the system to validate particular users’ transactions without dealing with those carried out by other users.
SPV guarantees that a user’s transaction is included in a block which in turn is accepted by a majority of hash-power. All without the need to download and verify the whole chain of transactions.
Since SPV architecture is based on a direct connection to the blockchain, it must be synchronized with it to check for any changes concerning the user in question. For this purpose, Billion Wallet periodically downloads the block headers formed since the moment of the last synchronization, while all new transactions executed by the user are sent directly to the blockchain. As a key to the funds and transaction data stored on the blockchain, each user is issued a passphrase. It is generated by the Billion wallet during the initial setup, and all the meta-data is associated with the account which is carried out without using any outdated methods such as sms messages and confirmation emails.
Summing up: Billion is a highly innovative open-source application that gives users full and efficient control over private keys, allowing them to interact directly with the blockchain.
Billion supports an updated version of Bitcoin cod – SegWit which allows to increase both the efficiency of the Bitcoin blockchain and its capacity, opening new possibilities for optimizing the second-level network - Lightning Network, smart contracts, and others. The implementation of SegWit in Billion is unique: it is presently the only one written in Swift – the native iOS programming language. At the same time, the wallet also supports non-SegWit transactions.
3.3.3. Cryptocurrency support and Payment code ID
Every cryptomarket participant needs to be able to hold and use the cryptocurrency of his or her choice in a correct, private and secure manner. In Billion, new modules will be added on such parameters as their stability and liquidity. For this reason, the first cryptocurrencies that will become available, apart from Bitcoin:, Bitcoin (BCH) Zcoin, Zcash.
Upon the first use of the app, each Billion user is assigned with a unique Payment Code, generated using a specially designed cryptographic algorithm. Reusable Payment Codes technology is an open BIP47 protocol . Such a code can be used to identify a user in the decentralized space, preserving his or her anonymity if required. Each Billion Wallet user can customize his or her Payment Code, editing the Billion Card. One Payment Code can be used for several cryptocurrencies, forming a user’s profile that can be shared to receive payments, messages, and other data across the cryptocurrency space.
3.3.4. BIP47 protocol – general features and advantages
BIP47 protocol establishes direct contact between two users by means of a blockchain and without intermediaries. The result of such contact are two special private sets of cryptographic keys, used to carry out transactions at the basic level of the blockchain and ensure cryptographic protection for higher-level services. Thus, two users who have established contact once can keep safely sending funds to each other, and information about their transactions will remain inaccessible to any third party. This interaction method can be defined as a private payment tunnel.
Advantages of BIP47
⦁ By creating several private payment tunnels, a user can build a full-fledged contact list. All that is needed is at least one on-chain transaction. which serves as a notification transaction and requires the sender to pay a standard fee. There is no more need to keep requesting single-use addresses for each transfer.
⦁ Reusable payment codes generated by the system can be published freely on the Internet - for example, to sell goods and services or raise donations. Publication of such a code is safer than regular address, since it cannot be used to extract information about the actual addresses used for specific transactions.
⦁ Reusable payment codes protect users' privacy, making it hard to find out how much funds have been transferred into the code owner's wallet.
⦁ Reusable payment codes are truly mobile-friendly, unlike similar earlier technologies, such as Bitcoin stealth addresses. Up to now, just three mobile wallets have implemented BIP47: Billion, Stash, and Samourai. Out of the three, only Billion has been developed specifically for iOS.
⦁ The same Payment Code can be used for transactions involving different cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin (BCH), Zcoin, Litecoin, Dash Tether USDT, etc., making this technology highly versatile.
⦁ Upon restoring a Billion Wallet, all information about interactions involving participants with whom the wallet owner has established payment tunnels is automatically downloaded from the blockchain.
⦁ Reusable payment codes are perfect for business: they help automate salary payments and other regular transactions, as well as make refunds to customers.
⦁ Payment codes solve the issue of address reuse.
3.4. Billion Financial Network
3.4.1. Public Messenger Network - a decentralized social network
Most existing social networks feature a centralized architecture that constitutes a serious problem; this problem is becoming ever more obvious to the wide public. Sale of personal data, spread of fake news, use of social networks for political means, security breaches, unfounded bans, scams, censure: all these phenomena have already become constant features of Facebook and Twitter. Solutions offered by the administration of these networks are inefficient, and outside developers do not have an opportunity to implement alternative solutions.
The development of decentralized systems has the potential to make social networks fairer and more transparent. Users' actions, when recorded on a blockchain, can serve as a base for multiple independent solutions and improvements that will increase trust in the system and its efficiency.
At present, actions in decentralized networks are recorded on a blockchain in the form of transactions; for instance, the Memo.cash protocol, which has emerged in 2018, uses the OP_RETURN script for this purpose. This protocol can be implemented on top of any cryptocurrency similar to Bitcoin. So far the only implementation of this technology uses Bitcoin Cash; the high number of messages exchanged across the Bitcoin Cash network can be explained by its near-zero fees. Soon it will become possible to merge data flows from different blockchains and form a global social network. Data and content in such a network will be stored in outside decentralized networks, with only cryptographic links to data recorded on the blockchain itself.
In the few months that have passed since the launch of Memo.cash, it has acquired thousands of users and multiple extensions that provide ever more customized settings. It is safe to assume that public interest in decentralized social networks will keep growing. That said, the introduction of an access to this social network will drastically increase the audience of the product and overall engagement into the Billion ecosystem.
Billion features the BIP47 protocol, allowing the wallet to interact with OP_RETURN transactions directly. This creates ideal conditions for a social network to form and grow around the wallet. Billion social network client will connect to blockchains of various cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin Cash, with others to follow, and extract messages from them, which will then be divided into channels and groups. At the same time, Billion social network client won't be the only one: creators of other crypto apps are always free to develop their own clients for the open global decentralized social network.
Social network users will be able to share their opinions and publish pictures in a way similar to Instagram and Twitter. For active networking, members will be able to use public groups - akin to those on Telegram but free from central authority and censure. Uncensored groups offer several advantages, including guaranteed freedom of speech and free access to information, better protection of users' rights, and faster technological progress that stems from unfettered exchange of information.
3.4.2. Private messenger
Many financial transactions require prior communication between users, which needs to be as anonymous and secure as possible. The best way to arrange such communication is via a specially designed, autonomous messenger that allows to transfer the discussion of financial matters into a dedicated safe space. Such a messenger is integrated into the Billion app and forms the basis of a financial social network built upon Payment Code IDs: there is no need for registrations, phone numbers, or email addresses.
The Payment Code technology already provides users with a universal ID in the decentralized space, and it’s this technology that is used in the Billion network. Each user has a list of contacts, and the architecture adds a possibility to exchange messages protected with end-to-end encryption. There will be no possibility for a third party to access the contents of messages and, more importantly, link the sender with the recipient. The carefully thought-out architecture of the messenger’s code will ensure that the Billion financial social network works at maximum capacity. Just like the wallet itself, the logic of interactions within the messenger was developed from scratch.
1) Pay-to-send messages
The financial messenger integrated into Billion will allow users to set a price tier for the first incoming message from an unknown contact. In this case, a user’s Payment Code ID needs to be made public – for instance, published on a individual or company’s website together with the price for the first message. Paid messages are displayed in a user’s incoming messages list as top priority. This feature can be used when organizing a promo Q&A sessions with celebrities, to sell tickets for events, or raise money for a charity. Many other monetization opportunities will undoubtedly be developed by users. This is an implementation of the Satoshi Nakomoto’s idea from early 2011, as described during a Cryptography mailing list conversation:
“[...] If someone famous is getting more e-mail than they can read, but would still like to have a way for fans to contact them, they could set up Bitcoin and give out the IP address on their website. "Send X bitcoins to my priority hotline at this IP and I'll read the message personally” [...]
Currently implemented on top of a closed messaging system, the end goal is to propose a novel open non-federated protocol for distributed communications based on BIP47 Reusable Payment Codes. Such a protocol can be adopted by any cryptocurrency related app forming an email-like communication system for the next decades. The details of the protocol will be published once the closed testing is finished.
2) Automated payments
Billion users will be able to create scheduled crypto payments, thus simplifying communication and increasing the product’s social value. Any member will be able to view both their own scheduled transactions and those that others plan to send them: this is a completely new format of interaction with money through a mobile app. This feature can be used not only to schedule payment, but also to ensure that smart contract requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner. This way, payments can be partially automated, making them as simple as communicating in a messenger.
4) Billion Reputation - a rating system
In the absence of a centralized administration and censure, the authority of each ecosystem member will be based on the assessment of his or her actions by other users. A member's reputation will be linked to their Payment Code, and all changes to the rating will be recorded on the Bitcoin Cash blockchain. Ratings will be influenced by likes and reviews received from other users, as well as on feedback provided by customers and clients. Billion Reputation ratings will be transparent, and their implementation in all the modules of the ecosystem will follow the general Billion "all-in-one" concept.
In other words, Billion Reputation is an implementation of FreeTrade’s Memo Reputation System proposal (Free Trade being a Memo community member who chooses to remain anonymous) , or a first blockchain-based web of trust system.
3.4. Billion Change
The complexity of existing solutions for exchanging cryptocurrency into fiat does not leave much hope for mass adoption. As noted in Chapter 1, at present such exchange transactions are characterized by high costs, lengthy waiting times, complexity, and security and privacy issues.
Billion Change has been developed specifically as a solution of the crypto-fiat exchange issue. With Billion Change, every app users will be able to easily find a seller or buyer and conduct a transaction quickly, safely, and confidentially, saving on fees.
The fee for instantaneous buying or selling of Bitcoins for fiat on the Billion platform can be reduced to just 1%, while minimizing the time and effort required. For comparison: Coinbase charges a conversion fee of 1.49% for bank transfers and 3.99% for credit cards – thus, someone who first deposits their money and then wants to cash it out will pay up to 8% in fees, plus the trading fee. This means that after carrying out such a transaction a client is forced to wait (sometimes for months) for the value of their asset to grow enough to cover the costs of exchange.
Thus, the emergence of Billion will decrease entry barriers for new users who enter the world of cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, and other blockchain solutions. At the same time, unlike traditional exchange services that involve banks, transaction costs on Billion will depend solely on the required profit of an individual trader and the commission of the system. As the popularity of the platform and the amount of available liquidity grow, professional traders' fees and the commission of the platform will decrease, making service even more accessible. To attract more traders, Billion has already integrated the LocalBitcoins API.
Billion Change will ensure the highest possible level of security and confidentiality. No intermediary servers will be used to store users' funds. Interaction between transaction parties will be carried out using the Billion Financial Network messenger. Crypto-fiat exchanges will be executed inside the Billion wallet, streamlining and optimizing the process. Any individual who knows how to use messengers will be able to buy and sell cryptocurrency at its real price, without unnecessary losses and risks, right in the app.
3.5. Billion Go
Technological progress keeps speeding up, and innovations that used to take a whole year can now be implemented in just a few months. Decision-making speed has become a key competitive advantage. Buyers of goods and services value their time ever more and choose to shop in those online stores that offer global delivery. For this reason, Billion will include a service called Billion Go, designed for vendors who wish to hire couriers to carry out guaranteed deliveries of items to customers, as well as for individuals who want to provide courier services delivering items guaranteed by a deposit. Billion Go will connect clients who order delivery with those who perform it to move goods quickly and easily. The service is somewhat similar to Uber, only with goods instead of passengers and with individuals wishing to earn money for delivering items instead of taxi drivers. Couriers will be able to deliver items whose value does not exceed the courier’s deposit sum, and each courier’s goal will be to increase his or her reputation on the platform. Thanks to this system, merchants can be sure that in case the customer does not receive the ordered item, its value will be compensated out of the courier’s deposit.
3.6. Billion Things
Due to current regulation issues in most countries, non-investment use of cryptocurrencies is often very complicated. Legal barriers prevent business owners from accepting cryptocurrency payments, since all accounting is based on fiat money flows. Many people do not even understand how cryptocurrency can be used to pay for goods and services.
We are creating a platform where any user will be able to sell their items or open their own store. Such a store will be visible to all Billion users, accept crypto payments and offer direct transactions without intermediaries. The platform will also aggregate information about stores and retailers that accept crypto, displaying results depending on a user’s location.
Order delivery will be organized using the in-built courier service Billion Go, which allows any individual to earn money and increase their reputation by delivering goods within the limits of their deposit value.
Places to Spend
This module will offer a convenient tool to search for and discover items on sale in different stores around the world. Billion Things catalogue will include filters and multiple categories, ensuring an efficient and user-friendly global search experience. Reliable vendors from across the world that accept crypto will be able to offer their items through the platform, while Billion ecosystem users will be able to buy those items in a fast and convenient manner and pay with cryptocurrency without any unnecessary complications or need for conversion.
Buy from stores
Billion users will not be limited to shopping at the platform or in online stores that accept crypto and are featured in the Billion aggregator module, of course. The Billion Go courier service can be easily used to order items from an offline store and get it delivered – including stores that do not accept crypto payments.
To make a purchase, a user will only need to pick an item and place it in the basket. The system will calculate the final order price, which will be deposited on the smart contract as soon as the user clicks on the Buy button.. The purchase order will become visible to all Billion Go couriers. Once a courier accepts the request, all further interactions between the customer and the courier will be carried out through the Billion messenger. The courier will pick up the purchased item and deliver it to the buyer; only after the delivery the courier will receive the funds deposited on the smart contract, including the item price and the delivery fee.
Thanks to the Billion platform, paying for purchases with crypto will stop being an exotic feature offered by only a few stores. Billion offers a solution to take cryptocurrency adoption to a new level, making them not just an investment tool, but an everyday means of payment.
Classified Ads
Apart from an aggregator of items sold by online retailers, Billion will feature a section for private classified ads allowing private individuals to sell any item (within the limits of legality) for cryptocurrency. It will be organized by category, akin to eBay, and integrated with the marketplace for online retailers, allowing users to search for an item across the whole database or across private ads only. Thanks to the security of transactions provided by the blockchain, users will be able to sell valuable items without the fear of deception or fraud. Cars, phones, puppies, even plots of land – anything can be published and sold on Billion. Users will have the advantage of the financial messenger to discuss the deal, and delivery will be arranged through the Billion Go service.
When placing an ad, Billion users will have the choice between making an ordinary placement (that will soon be pushed down to the second, third etc. pages of the result list) or paying for a premium placement that will stay on the first page for a set period of time. The price of such a placement will be determined as a result of an auction: users will bid on the first, second, or some other visible spot on the page, and the user willing to pay more will be assigned that spot after the auction period ends. The payment and subsequent placement of the ad will be governed by the Classified Ads smart contract.
3.7. Billion Invest
Billion aims to satisfy all everyday needs of active cryptocurrency users, and this also includes investment. Indeed, crypto enthusiasts do not just buy and sell digital currencies at exchanges and store them in their wallets – they also act as investors for new blockchain-based projects.
The ICO market is experiencing explosive growth: while 2016 saw a total of 29 ICOs raise just over $90 million, in 2017 there were 873 ICOs, with the total funding of circa $6 billion dollars, while just in the first half of 2018 the number of ICOs has already reached 1037, and the total proceeds have exceeded $6.6. billion . At the same time, statistics show that over 80% of ICO projects end up in failure, being either intentional scams (that is, fraudulent) or collapsing due to bad preparation, lack of competence among the founders, or lack of a product-market fit . However, at the pre-sale and ICO stage it can be hard for potential investors to evaluate the quality of a project. For this reason, Billion will introduce the Billion Invest module – an investment subplatform that will allow ecosystem members to invest in the most promising blockchain startups.
In order to attract funding, a project will need to be published on Billion Invest and pass a complex expert review. The analysis will be performed by a community of analysts chosen by the Billion team and by the community. On Billion Invest, potential experts will be able to apply for the role of ICO analysts: each candidate will, in turn, be vetted by the team and community based on their Billion Reputation rating, track record, ICO experience, and portfolio of prior work in the field. Experts will be remunerated for their work with a share of the commission charged by Billion Invest on all funds raised by a project through the platform.
Apart from investing individually, Billion Invest users will be able to form investment pools to take advantage of the discounts often offered by projects to large contributors (such discounts and bonuses can reach 20%). After purchasing tokens of a selected ICO project, users will be able to store them in their Billion Wallet and then sell through Billion Change once the token begins to be traded. In the second stage of the project, a special portfolio management section will be included in the Wallet, with clear real-time graphs and statistics showing the changes in the market value of the tokens owned by a user.
Just like couriers carrying out goods delivery on Billion Go, experts who vet and rate ICOs on Billion Invest will be motivated to increase their reputation in order to have a wider choice of projects to examine and earn a higher income. Their reputation will depend on the correlation between the ratings they give to projects and the eventual success of these projects, meaning that an expert has to do his or her job diligently. On the other hand, experts will also earn reputation points for publishing articles and recommendations on the platform, to which users can give likes. For the Billion community, this means that Billion Invest will become the ultimate go-to resource for ICO analytics, trends, and advice.
3.8. Billion: advantages and prospects
3.8.1. Benefits for Billion Wallet users
Billion Wallet is a sophisticated cryptocurrency wallet built using a unique UI/UX that takes into account all the latest design trends and possibilities of the latest iOS version. The wallet is already available for download in App Store and will soon be added to Google Play store. Billion differs from its competitors as much as iPhone differs from other smartphones. The app is being continuously updated, acquiring new features that will enable it to become the industry leader in the near future. An ecosystem centered on Billion Wallet, offering multiple tools optimized for everyday use, will place it far ahead of standard crypto wallets.
Billion users will hardly look any further once they experience the benefits offered by Billion Wallet:
⦁ Thanks to the use of the Simplified Payment Verification protocol (SPV), the wallet syncs directly with the blockchain. SPV allows to verify that a transaction has been written into the blockchain without downloading the whole chain of transactions. The technology was originally proposed by Satoshi Nakamoto , and we believe it is going to become the standard among hot wallets. Unlike custodian solutions, Billion Wallet stores keys inside a hardware secure module of the smartphone, and applies strong encryption in case user’s device lacks such a module, or user opts-in into cloud synchronization. SPV synchronization in Billion is implemented for UTXO-based cryptocurrencies.
⦁ Transaction history is displayed in an easy-to-understand form, without long and inconvenient wallet addresses. The exchange rate for the chosen currency pair is fixed at the moment of transaction сonfirmation. If transaction is performed between two users of the Billion Wallet, the exchange rate is transmitted through the Billion Messenger and fixed at the moment of transaction broadcast.
⦁ Senders and recipients can be easily added to a contact list and interacted with without a need to enter phone numbers and email addresses. Reusable Payment Codes technology allows to record contacts on the corresponding blockchain, which also solves the issue of having to copy the cryptocurrency addresses and insert it into a dedicated field: in Billion Wallet, this sequence is performed with just one tap.
⦁ Reusable Payment Codes help generate a new address for any UTXO-based cryptocurrency every time the payment is initiated, thus solving the issue of address reuse currently plaguing many cryptocurrencies. Billion Wallet is the only example of this technology implemented in an iOS app.
⦁ The wallet also offers features commonly found in mobile banking apps, such as sending payment requests and adding comments to requests and transactions. This makes Billion Wallet more convenient and user-friendly than other crypto wallets.
⦁ Billion Wallet will include a built-in aggregator of exchange rates for a number of digital exchanges. For some regions, an aggregator of rates from trusted exchangers will be included.
⦁ The code of Billion Wallet is available on GitHub. It’s open to independent audit so that users can be sure that the development team has no access to their funds.
Soon the team will introduce a number of additional features:
⦁ Updated Billion Wallet built on Swift – the new programming language created by Apple and the only native language for iOS. This will help increase the app’s speed and simplify scaling and updates.
⦁ Support for the most prominent cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BCH), Zcoin, Zcash and some others.
⦁ Billion will implement the support for existing and ongoing blockchain malleability fixes such as SegWit, MalFix, FlexTran etc.
3.8.2. Benefits for Billion ecosystem users
Billion Wallet serves as a launchpad for the whole Billion ecosystem – an infrastructure designed to satisfy everyday needs of active cryptocurrency users. The Billion ecosystem offers a number of key advantages for users and investors:
⦁ Billion ecosystem is the first large-scale infrastructure built for the rapidly growing cryptocurrency market;
⦁ The key element of the ecosystem is an extremely user-friendly all-in-one app that is attracting ever more users;
⦁ The concept of Billion allows users to not only act as consumers but also earn cryptocurrency by selling goods or services.
Chapter 4. Project Development
4.1.Monetization of the platform
Various modules of the Billion ecosystem will charge a number of different commissions and fees:
⦁ Commission charged on crypto-fiat exchanges on Billion exchange – 0.75%;
⦁ Crypto exchange fee – 0.2%;
⦁ Marketplace p2p deals – 0.2%;
⦁ Fees on the revenue received by delivery couriers on Billion Go – 5%;
⦁ Fees for placing ads in the premium space on the marketplace: as offered by the highest bidder.
To protect investors’ interests, the Billion smart contracts include a feature that automatically distributes revenue among Billion token holders. The platform itself will receive a share of the total amount charged as fees in accordance with the share of tokens held by the platform (9.2%),
as well as on the tokens blocked in the Billion Change smart contract.

4.3. Billion token model
4.3.2. Benefits for Billion token buyers
The attractiveness of the Billion project to token buyers is based on several factors:
⦁ The Billion team has already launched a fully functional product – Billion crypto wallet - that has numerous advantages over its competitors and a high growth potential;
⦁ Ahead of the launch of the Billion Change platform, Billion Wallet serves as a revenue source for the project: it aggregates digital exchangers’ data and charges them a fee for each transaction made by a Billion user. The project’s own platform for exchanging crypto quickly, easily and safely – Billion Change – will be released shortly.
⦁ Core elements of the Billion infrastructure are already close to completion;
⦁ The project offers two types of tokens, allowing backers to choose between holding BLLN security tokens and receiving dividends or owning BMT utility tokens to enjoy the full set of Billion features;
⦁ From the moment of purchase of BLLN tokens, an investor will start earning an income through a distributed algorithm that re-allocates part of the revenue from later token sales to existing investors;
⦁ The project adheres to the requirements and requirements of the US Securities Commission (SEC), ensuring the stability of its tokens’ value and minimizing investor risks.

4.5. Company ownership and profit distribution model
In order to ensure long-term stability and success of the Billion app, the ownership and management of the company must adhere to the decentralized business model. The company is to belong to the community, while its profit should be distributed among as many users as possible.
100% of all revenue will be allocated to existing token holders through the specially designed Distribution Smart Contract. The company will receive its share of the revenue in accordance with the number of tokens it holds on the same terms as the rest of the investors.
The share of tokens held by the company will be gradually reduced from 100% to 36% as Billion’s popularity and revenue grow.
Since the revenue from selling tokens will be distributed among all ecosystem members who already hold tokens, they will receive an additional ROI, which will be highest for those who have joined earliest. This model means that as more tokens start circulating and the number of token holders grow, the share of revenue due to each token holder will decrease, thus providing additional motivation to make the decision and purchase tokens sooner.
The platform’s revenue will consist of the proceeds from the whole Billion infrastructure and the money received from token sales.

Introducción a
los sistemas descentralizados
Capítulo 1
1.1..Sistemas descentralizados y Bitcoin
permissioned public ledgers), registros públicos bajo permiso y registros privados bajo permiso.
previsiones a medio plazo

a).Custodia y seguridad
b).Complejidad
No
No obstante, convertir
sino también proveer estos servicios a otros;
⦁Billion Things – Mercado de bienes y servicios vendidos con criptodivisas;
⦁Billion Invest
no urgentes.

3.6..Billion Go

través del servicio Billion Go.

plagando a muchas criptodivisas.
