reserve team player/youth team player

based on the above definition, reserve team player/youth team player is what its refering to.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Dr. Andrew Frankland : A reserve-team player is not necessarily from the "cantera". He could have been signed from another club.

You are correct, Dr Frankland
agree James Calder : Strictly speaking "cantera" refers to a club's pool of homegrown players but from the context it's obvious the players come from the "filial" or "reserve team", which usually contains homegrown players and players signed from other clubs.

homegrown player

As in one who has been developed by the club rather than brought in from elsewhere.
Peer comment(s):

neutral James Calder : You're right but "canterano" is a loosely used term in Spain and often refers to players from the "filial" or reserve team e.g. Real Madrid Castilla, Barcelona B, etc.
