Spanish term

como decimos en la jerga

Spanish to English Science Physics for a paper
Necesito decir "como decimos en la jerga" en inglés formal; es para un paper que será publicado en una revista de ciencia.

como decimos en la jerga: as it is said in the jargon; as it is said in the field;

Gracias desde ya!!

Thank you, Sue!
agree Charles Davis : In an academic paper I think this strikes the right tone. Curiously, "as we say in the profession" is pretty formal, but "as we say in the trade" is distinctly colloquial (and unsuitable here).

Thanks!
agree Neil Ashby : Seems a good response, but IMO it is very unusual to write in the first person in a paper. "as we say...." it still seems very informal for a paper.
