I am currently translating a CV. This gentleman worked for a power production company as chef de quart reponsible for installation and personnel safety and preventive maintenance, 'l'animation de l'equipe de quart'.
Can anyone suggest an English equivalent please?

Comes from marine terminology, used also for airports and power stations.
In nuclear power stations, he can even order to stop the reactors for emergency reasons. Not executive, operations' responsible, but a BIG GUY :-)
