In support of ベビープーマー 団塊世代 is often supplied as the translation for "baby boom generation." While it is true that the 団塊世代 was the Japanese postwar baby boom generation, and moreover to a certain extent the social impact that this particular generation had on postwar Japanese society mirrors that of the American baby boom generation, the Japanese postwar boom was much shorter (@1947-49) than the U.S. one (@1946-1964). Moreover, there are enough differences between the two that it makes more sense to stick with the katakana ベビープーマー to more fully distinguish between the two and generally avoid leaving a mistaken impression.
