This "associate" appears in the following sentence, which in turn appears in a law-suit-related document.
"The true names and capacities, whether individual, corporate, ASSOCIATE or otherwise, of defendants, DOES 1 through 100, inclusive, are unknown to plaintiffs, who therefore sue said defendants by such names and plaintiffs will seek leave to amend this complaint when the same has been ascertained."

専門家の方がいらっしゃれば、出しゃばるところではないのですが、何事も勉強ということで、敢えて...。
出典は「英米法辞典」(東京大学出版会)で、associateには「同業者」、associationに「社団」および「法人格なき社団」があります。ここでは、「個人」、「法人」の後なので、「社団」でよろしいかと思いました。or othersを含めると「社団その他」となるかと...。
