Croatian term

"Na zadnjoj štengi se penjezi broje"

Croatian to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
Ovaj izraz mogu samo da nađem na netu upravo u članku gde sam ga pročitao, pa mi treba pomoć oko smisla. (štenga i penjezi znam šta su :)).

Nagađam da je smisao nešto poput, "Don't count your chickens before they're hatched" ILI "nemoj brojati pare pred svima nego se sakrijte negde". Ako se radi o ovom drugom ili nečem trećem, onda ima li neko ideju za sličan idiom na engleskom?

Hvala.

first I vote for your first suggestion. Climbing has a lot of connotations especially in connection with earning money or advancing in your career, so what I think it suggests is exactly: don't celebrate your success until you've completed everything there was to complete.

Comment: "Hey, I like it :) I didn't use it in the end because the 'counting your chickens' was more appropriate just because the context was about money, but I would definitely use this too in the right context! Actually, the meanings are slightly different, thinking about it, but a similar idea."
