Croatian term

to su čista posla!

Croatian to English Other Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
kako to prevesti?
Bilo bi dobro ako može prijevod koji prenosi 'poruku' ali se radi o tekstu koji reklamira spužve i sredstva za čišćenje, pa je navedeno unutar konteksta stvarne čistoće, a ne samo u prenesenom značenju!
Hvala!

Prijedlog koji sam izabrala je najbolji; evo i navedenih prijevoda kod Bujasa-: squeaky-clean = (slang) čist kao sunce;
(fig.) = ultrakorektan, bez i najmanje mrlje, ultrakonvencionalan
Hvala Simon, i ostalima na raspravi i komentarima!
PoveyTrans (X) Jul 24, 2009:
Agree with clean I agree that clean is the operative word here. A clean job is certainly an option but the 'preneseno znacenje' in the Croatian isn't very strongly implied in the English. One could read that into it but without more context, it might not necessarily occur to a native speaker that it also concerns something moral. My two-penneth...

slažem se s marinom, možda da pokušate vrtjeti nešto s "clean hands", ne znam koliko tekst podnosi, npr. everybody's hands are clean in this business, all hands clean, ili čak možda i "no dirty hands in this business", (malo "lupetam"), ali nikad se ne zna kad će nešto povući neku inspirativniju misao:)))
Marina Pjevalica Jul 24, 2009:
clean job, clear case cini mi se da ovdje treba sacuvati bas rijec "cist" jer je naglasak na cistoci tako da izraz na nasem jeziku ima i preneseno i stvarno znacenje pa treba naci nesto slicno i na engleskom... mozda this is a clear case here... i. sl.

Squeaky clean (work)

This is a tough one trying to combine both meanings but I wonder if this would not hit the mark as it implies something which is both very clean and above board in a moral sense.

I'm not sure about the work bit as it depends on the context - is it a stand-alone slogan maybe?

Nothing is fishy there (about it)!

Možda nešto poput navedenog.
Peer comment(s):

agree Marika : Slazem se, samo uz"here" umesto "there":"Nothing is fishy here!", kao dobro prepoznatljiv izraz.

Transparent business. Period.

My suggestion.

The word transparent is usually used to indicate ethical, honest business practices.

"Transparent business" itself should do. However, to make it more snappy, suitable for a slogan, you can add "Period" or "No more, no less" or something else along these lines...

or even adding "Clean cut" could work, though it's a bit figurative.
