Classical High School
I always translate gimnazija as High School. Gymnasium just doesn't work for me in English and would just be confusing for the majority of Brits or Americans. High School obviously works for US English and in the UK there are just a few "High Schools" but in any event everyone is very familiar with the term.
Classical as a prefix certainly as these schools do have an emphasis on Classics, i.e. they teach Greek and Latin although their curriculum is quite broad as is the case for other gimnazije.

Note from asker:
Thank you very much, I used to translate it as Classical Languages High School, but this is even simpler. |

: da, Classical Gymnasium in Zagreb (Gymnasium Classicum Zagrabiense); imo nije baš tako nerealno očekivati da npr. i neki amerikanci znaju što je gymnasium u europskom školstvu, ako ništa oni koji su čitali M. Twainea

: that would not work in the USA. People would laugh.Guaranteed. Some may cry, too.

: grammar school is 1-8th grade in the US! Gimnazija is High School! And, no, we don't use gymnasium- most americans will look at you like you have horn on your head.

Grammar School

Example sentence:
A grammar school is one of several different types of school in the history of education in the United Kingdom and some other English-speaking countries, originally schools teaching classical languages but more recently academically-oriented types of ...
...secondary schools.

: Apsolutno. Izvornog engleskog govornika "Gymnasium" samo može navesti na "gym" i srodna značenja. Grammar school je jedini mogući ekvivalent.

: grammar school is not gimnazija in the US! gimnazija je high-school. Grammar school is elementary school, lower in rank than high-school.http://thesaurus.reference.com/browse/grammar school
I do agree with the 'gym' part, though.

U Kanadi jeste. Dakle, cini mi se da sve zavisi od engleskog govornog podrucja za koje koleginica prevodi.

: Due to differences in the educational systems, it is impossible to find an exact equivalent. Ideally, a description of the school's curriculum / focus should be provided for clarity.

High school with a focus [ or core curriculum] on humanistic studies
For the lack of a proper translation (one does NOT exist),I think you need to use a description and provide the original Croatian name in parentheses.
For US audience

as an alternative you could use "liberal arts high-school" along the same lines as 'liberal arts college".... you need to know that there is NO exact equivalent to klasicna gimnazija in the US/Canada--primarily because the students select their courses and do not follow a predetermined curriculum, so you just need to go with the closest equivalent.

Discussion
US - grammar school - 1-8th grade (some may have 9) ; junior high school would be the 6-8 or (9th grades)
-high school - 9th - 12th grade (may be a general version of a high school or a vocational high school where you learn a trade)
-college/university depending on the size of the school
-graduate school
-doctorate (PhD)
