Comment: "NOTE: A word of caution in these things. The document I was translating was not an original but a handwritten transcription. Therefore the signatures were not originals but transcriptions! Yet they still bore the label "s.r.", to indicate that the signatures in the original exemplar were personal signatures."

| Thank you for your contribution to thoroughness. The problem with "duly signed" is that it is ambiguous, in my opinion. In English, there is the implication that an authorized substitute signature may have been used, applied either by a delegated person or by a machine (so-called "autopen"). |
