Discussion

Laura Dalla Costa Jan 31, 2018:
In this context I think you might use excerpt. The definition of stralcio in Italian is: Ciò che viene separato da un insieme organico.
philgoddard Jan 31, 2018:
I agree with "abridged", which is not the same as "extracted". Abridged means the whole article with bits taken out, while extracts are bits taken out.
garrett higgins (asker) Jan 31, 2018:
hi. phil, thanks. it's a News Agency Agreement between the Big Agency and a smaller one .... text (the so-called agency news releases; hereinafter, the “*** Text Content”) provided through the *** World Service, which &&& would have been able to use up to a maximum of 15% of the daily content of the flows distributed to its customers (art. 3.2 of the Contract). The *** Text Content could have been distributed in estratto o stralcio [extract or abridged versions], subject to to translation into Italian (art. 3.3 of the Contract). ... so the 'o' suggests to me estratto is different from stralcio but maybe not
philgoddard Jan 31, 2018:
I'm probably wasting my breath asking for context, or what you've found yourself, and you still close lots of questions without thanks or acknowledgment. But "stralcio" would appear to mean the same as "in estratto".
