The term "axe de circulation" is most often heard these days with "grands" or "principaix". It is simply a more formal term for road.

It often implies a road of some importance, be that in the sense of size or of significance. Your context should enable you to determine whether you need to qualify the term "road" in any way. It may not be necessary.

neutral Daryo : these "roads" (most likely urban "streets") must have been of some importance for Mussolini to allow the destruction of remains from Roman period?
