Source text - English Roman Spa and Pump Room
Bath was founded upon natural hot springs with the steaming water playing a key role throughout its history. Lying in the heart of the city the Roman Baths were constructed around 70 AD as a grand bathing and socialising complex. It is now one of the best- preserved Roman remains in the world.
1,170,000 litres of steaming spring water reaching 46°C still fill the bathing site every single day. The Romans believed that this was the mystical work of the Gods but we now know that the water source, which comes from the King’s Spring, fell as rain water around 10,000 BC.
Visit The Great Bath, the magnificent epicentre to the complex and walk on the ancient cobbled pathways as the Romans did 2,000 years ago. The Great Bath that lies below street level can also be viewed from the Terrace, which is adorned with statues and shadowed by the great Abbey. Other chambers to explore include the remains of the ancient heated rooms and changing rooms as well as tepid and plunge pools.
Be sure to pick up an audio guide speaking and listen to fascinating commentary as you slowly make your way around the site. These are available in twelve different languages, with special guides for children. A special English- audio guide narrated by Bill Bryson is also available and offers witty thoughts and observations on all things Roman.
Not only can you walk among the extensive ruins but you can also explore many treasures in the interactive museum with visual snippets that transport you back to Roman times and the lives of the Aquae Sulis people.
The Romans built a temple high over the courtyard in honour of the goddess Sulis Minerva. Brave visitors can stand before the fearsome Gorgon’s head carved into the pediment, with an animation to show a reconstructed version of how it would have appeared in Roman times. You can also meet costumed Roman characters and listen to their ancient stories from 10am – 5pm every day.
During July and August, the Roman Baths are open until 10pm, illuminated by torch light. The flickering torches cast shadows on the ancient pavements and create a beautifully romantic and magical atmosphere to explore by moon light.
After your exploration we invite you to take a sip of the spa water in the Pump Room, which is included in the admission price. Containing 42 minerals and believed to have healing powers this is a unique opportunity to get a real taste (literally!) of Roman Bath. If that doesn't quite take your fancy then opt for afternoon tea in the Pump Room restaurant accompanied by music from the Pump Room Trio.

La città di Bath fu fondata sopra a delle sorgenti termali naturali e l’acqua calda ebbe sempre un ruolo chiave nella sua storia. Le Terme Romane, un imponente complesso dove si potevano fare i bagni termali e si poteva socializzare, furono costruite intorno al 70 dC nel cuore della città. A tutt’oggi è uno dei resti di epoca romana meglio conservati del mondo.
Ancora adesso le vasche si riempiono ogni giorno di 1.170.000 litri di acqua calda di sorgente che raggiunge i 46°C. I Romani credevano che questo avvenisse grazie all’intervento misterioso degli dei, ma noi sappiamo che si tratta di acqua piovana caduta all’incirca nell’XI sec. aC e proveniente dalla Sorgente del Re, così chiamata perché una leggenda racconta che il re celta Bladud era guarito dalla lebbra bagnandosi nelle sue acque fangose.
Potrete visitare il magnifico centro del complesso dove si trova la Vasca Grande, e camminare sulle pavimentazioni antiche su cui 2000 anni fa camminavano i Romani. La Vasca Grande, che si trova più in basso del livello stradale, si può ammirare anche dalla terrazza adornata di statue e situata all’ombra della Cattedrale gotica. Altri ambienti da esplorare includono i resti delle antiche saune, degli spogliatoi, del tepidario (la piscina di acqua tiepida) e del frigidario (la piscina di acqua fredda).
Non dimenticate di prendere un’audioguida e ascoltare l’affascinante commento mentre visitate il sito con calma. Le audioguide sono in dodici lingue e sono anche disponibili in versione speciale per i bambini. Here in Wales we have a strong tradition of living off the land, stretching back as far as the ancient Celts. Food has historically been simple wholesome fare – thrifty dishes made with just a few simple, quality ingredients. This was fuel designed to satisfy the hearty appetites of those working the land: farmers, quarry workers, coal miners and fishermen.
Welsh lamb, beef and produce from the sea
The prime natural resources of Wales have shaped our culinary tradition. Welsh lamb is justifiably world famous, farmed on the lush mountains and valleys. Our cattle farming produces Welsh beef, most notably from the Welsh black cattle. Our coastline offers the best of fresh fish, from Pembrokeshire, the mussel farms of Bangor, to Anglesey Oysters and our famous laverbread, edible seaweed or ‘Welshman’s caviar’, collected from the shores of the Gower.
Award winning cheese
Cheese has long been a traditional food of Wales and award-winning varieties grace the cheese boards of homes and restaurants alike, from the more famous Caerphilly, Tintern, and Y Fenni to the likes of Black Bomber and Perl Las, which continue the reputation and excellence of Welsh cheese producers.
The leek
Staple fruits of the land include oats, barley, wheat and vegetables, including the famous Welsh leek – an enduring symbol of Wales and found in traditional dishes from Glamorgan sausage to the hearty broth known simply as cawl.
Nothing showcases the Welsh tradition of simple wholesome fare more than cawl. Cawl was once a staple of all Welsh cooking – containing all the goodness of the land in one pot and eaten daily. Every cawl would vary with the season, the region, and the cook.
Tradition and diversity
Welsh food is also a glorious combination of tradition and diversity – the heritage of Welsh cooking blended with influences from immigrant populations from Italy and the Middle East who flocked to parts of Wales from the mid-18th – mid-19th century in search of work. Think of our outstanding Welsh Italian ice-cream parlours and cafes.
A typically traditional Welsh breakfast consists of bacon, eggs, laverbread and cockles. Welsh tea, traditionally a late afternoon ritual, would consist of bara brith, ‘speckled bread’, a sweet fruit bread and Welsh cakes. Welsh rarebit is a luscious traditional supper.
Independent breweries
Wales is well known for our beer. From the UK’s biggest family-owned independent brewery, Brains, to local breweries - like Tiny Rebel Brewing Company for Cardiff and Newport. If it’s not beer, it’s cider. Award winners include Apple County Cider, in Monmouthshire and Hallets Cider, in Crumlin.
Wine producers are excelling too. We have over 20 Welsh vineyards ranging from the larger Ancre Hill Estates to Red Wharf Bay Vineyard on Anglesey, producing award-winning wines that make Wales proud.
Welsh spirits
Penderyn Whisky is probably our best-known spirit, but Wales has a number of other tipples from producers across the country. You'll now find high quality gins of all types popping up in the most picturesque places - award-winning Dyfi Distillery is based in the UNESCO-listed Dyfi biosphere, while Silver Circle Distillery is in the heart of the Wye Valley - the birthplace of the modern tourism and the notion of the 'picturesque'.

Una delle canzoni più conosciute tra quelle che vengono cantate alle partite di rugby del Galles ha un ritornello trascinante che dice: “Dammi da mangiare fino a che non ne voglio più” (Feed Me ‘Til I Want No More). Il Galles è ricco di mercati degli agricoltori, produttori artigianali, festival del cibo e ristoranti premiati: il sapore del Galles è veramente tutto da gustare ...
Qui in Galles abbiamo una forte tradizione, che risale fino agli antichi Celti, di vivere dei prodotti della nostra terra. Storicamente il cibo è sempre stato semplice e sano, caratterizzato da piatti frugali cucinati con ingredienti semplici e di qualità. Si trattava di alimenti studiati per soddisfare l’appetito robusto dei lavoratori della terra: i contadini, i minatori delle cave e delle miniere e i pescatori.
Agnello gallese, manzo gallese e prodotti del mare
Le risorse naturali del Galles sono di ottima qualità e hanno modellato la nostra tradizione culinaria. Il porro
I prodotti della terra che costituiscono la base della cucina gallese sono l’averna, l’orzo e le verdure, incluso il famoso porro gallese, il simbolo duraturo del Galles che si ritrova nei piatti tradizionali come le salsicce vegetariane Glamorgan e il cawl (pronuncia: caul), una sostanziosa minestra a base di carne e verdura.
Niente rappresenta il cibo semplice e sano della tradizione gallese meglio del cawl. Una volta il cawl era l’alimento base della cucina gallese, dal momento che raccoglieva in una pentola tutti i prodotti genuini della terra e veniva mangiato tutti i giorni. Il cawl cambia a seconda della stagione e della regione, e anche in base a chi lo cucina.
Tradizione e diversità
Il cibo gallese è una splendida combinazione di tradizione e diversità, dal momento che la cucina tradizionale gallese è stata influenzata dalla cucina degli immigrati italiani e mediorientali che sono arrivati in gran numero in cerca di lavoro in varie parti del Galles. Exploring The Gower Peninsula
Gower was the first place in Britain to be named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With cliffs and woodlands ringed by sparkling beaches, the Gower peninsula is so adored by walkers, birdwatchers, sunbathers and surfers, it’s been scooping awards ever since. Here are 10 ways to enjoy this 70-square-mile (180sq km) paradise.
Worm’s Head
Gower’s most iconic sight is this rocky promontory that snakes out into Rhossili Bay: the name ‘worm’ comes from the Viking for ‘sea serpent’. The walk out to Worm's Head is a fabulous adventure on a sunny day, but do check the tides, which are displayed on a board near the causeway – it’s only reachable for two hours either side of low tide. Even locals get it wrong: as a boy, the poet Dylan Thomas was marooned until midnight.
The star beaches
Rhossili regularly makes lists of the world’s best beaches, for very good reason: its three-mile (4.8km) golden sands feature towering cliffs and Worm’s Head at one end, dunes at the other, and a genuine shipwreck in between. In summer, you can watch paragliders ridge-soaring the updrafts on Rhossili Downs. For sheer natural beauty, Three Cliffs Bay is just as good: the Pennard Pill river cuts a deep cleft into the wooded hillside before emptying into a gorgeous bay, overlooked by the ruins of Pennard Castle and the eponymous three jagged cliffs. Strong currents mean that Three Cliffs isn’t ideal for swimming, and it’s a bit of a walk to reach it – but that makes it quieter, and even more special.
The easy beaches
The first two beaches you hit on the way out of Mumbles onto Gower are also the easiest with small children. Caswell and Langland have all the trimmings you need – parking, ice cream, toilets, shops – as well as Blue Flag Awards. The clifftop walk between the beaches is also a good introduction to coastal walking. Further along the peninsula, Port Eynon has all the same facilities but feels a little less urban.
The secret beaches
Pretty Pobbles Bay is tucked behind the iconic Three Cliffs at the end of a long-ish walk over cliffs and dunes, so it’s often overlooked. The same goes for Mewslade Bay, which is overshadowed by neighbouring Worm’s Head and Rhossili. But the least visited of all is Blue Pool Bay, accessible only after a yomp over dunes from Broughton Bay on the remote northwest corner. The Blue Pool is a natural tidal plunge-pool, beloved of wild swimmers.
Get active – in the sea
Gower has been a surfing hotspot for decades. UK champion surfer Gwen Spurlock’s favourite break is at Langland in the right conditions, but Llangennith on the northwest tip has the most reliable waves. Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Gower do stand up paddleboarding (SUP) sessions all around the coastline, while several operators run coasteering sessions. You can search here for a full list of providers.
Get active – on the land
Although Gower is deservedly known for its beaches, there’s plenty to do inland. You can ride horses on the beaches or up on the moorland, rock-climb and abseil on the sea cliffs, or learn some bushcraft skills in the woods. Mountain bikers can find miles of rough track along Rhossili Down and Cefn Bryn common, while road cyclists will love the quiet lanes on the north side of the peninsula.
Go for a walk
For a relatively compact area, there’s a huge variety of landscapes on Gower. The Wales Coast Path runs around the coastline, taking in the dramatic cliffs and coves of the south, and the quieter saltmarshes of the north. The Gower Way cuts for 35 miles (56km) right through the middle. Visit Swansea Bay and the National Trust have come up with lists of their own favourite walks. Our own personal favourite is anything with a pub at the end. Talking of which…
Where to drink…
A lot of walks/cycles in the Gower uplands tend to gravitate towards The King Arthur in Reynoldston, a proper roaring-log-fire country pub beneath Cefn Bryn, the highest point on Gower. Another good local is the award-winning Britannia Inn at Llanmadoc, whose beer garden has lovely views down to the Burry Inlet. And finally, anywhere that sells a pint of local brew Gower Gold, basically. The Gower Brewery was founded in 2011, and they’ve now got a small empire of three very good pubs on Gower - The King's Head in Llangennith, The Ship Inn at Port Eynon, and The Rake & Riddle at Penclawdd.
Where to eat
The Beach House won AA Restaurant of the Year in Wales within a year of opening in a fantastic beachfront spot in Oxwich Bay. Chef Hywel Griffith is a master of seasonal, local ingredients: the fish is landed by boats that bob in the sea just beyond the terrace, veg from local farms, and lamb from the salt marshes a few miles away. Gower is also the spiritual home of those twin Welsh delicacies, cockles and laverbread. The laver (seaweed) is harvested from the shoreline, while cockles came (and still do) from the sandy estuary at Penclawdd on the north coast. If you see either/both on the menu anywhere on Gower, go for it.
History and heritage
The oldest buried human remains in Britain were found on Gower, dating back more than 30,000 years: the 'Red Lady' of Paviland (who later turned out to be a fella). The uplands are littered with Neolithic remains, most notably the burial chamber topped by the 25-ton Arthur's Stone. The Normans tried to oust the Welsh from Gower in the 11th and 12th centuries by bringing in Flemish settlers, and there’s still a noticeable difference in place-names, accent and dialect between the Welsh north and Anglicised south of the peninsula. The Gower Heritage Centre is a good place to learn about rural culture, while the Gower Festival brings high-calibre classical performers to a dozen ancient local churches each July. There’s also a strong folk tradition on Gower, best experienced at the annual Gower Folk Festival in June.

Worm’s Head (Testa del Verme)
Questo promontorio di roccia che si allunga serpeggiando nella baia di Rhossili è il panorama più iconico del Gower. La parola ‘worm’ (verme) viene dalla lingua dei Vichinghi, il norreno, in cui significava ‘serpente’, ‘drago’. Quando il tempo è bello, la passeggiata verso Worm's Head è una bellissima avventura, ma ricordatevi di controllare l’orario delle maree che è esposto su una bacheca vicino al sentiero: il passaggio fino a Worm’s Head è sicuro solo durante le due ore precedenti e le due ore successive alla bassa marea.
Le spiagge da cartolina
Rhossili viene regolarmente inserita nella classifica delle spiagge più belle del mondo per un’ottima ragione: i suoi 5 chilometri di sabbia dorata sfoggiano da un lato le imponenti scogliere e la Worm’s Head, dall’altro le dune, e nel mezzo un vero e proprio relitto di naufragio. In estate si possono osservare i parapendii che costeggiano le colline seguendo le correnti d’aria.
La pura bellezza naturale di Three Cliffs Bay (baia delle Tre Falesie) non è da meno: il torrente Pennard Pill scava una fenditura profonda nel fianco boscoso della collina prima di sfociare in una splendida baia su cui sovrastano le rovine del castello di Pennard e le tre falesie frastagliate che le danno il nome. A causa delle forti correnti Three Cliffs non è la spiaggia ideale per nuotare, e la passeggiata a piedi per raggiungerla è un po’ lunga – ma tutto questo significa che è molto tranquilla e ancora più speciale.
Le spiagge facili da raggiungere
Le prime due spiagge che si incontrano quando si lascia il villaggio di Mumbles dirigendosi verso il Gower sono anche le spiagge più adatte ai bambini piccoli. Caswell e Langland hanno tutte le comodità di cui avete bisogno: parcheggio, gelaterie, bagni pubblici (puliti e gratuiti), negozi. Sono anche tutt’e due certificate Bandiera Blu. Le spiagge segrete
Pobbles Bay (baia di Pobbles) è una bella spiaggia nascosta dietro alla famosa Three Cliffs. La si raggiunge a piedi tramite un sentiero abbastanza lungo che passa sulle scogliere e tra le dune. Per questo motivo passa spesso inosservata. Lo stesso si può dire di Mewslade Bay (baia di Mewslade) che è messa in ombra dalle vicine Rhossili e Worm’s Head. Ma la spiaggia meno visitata di tutte è Blue Pool Bay (Baia della Piscina Blu), situata in un angolo remoto del Gower nordoccidentale. Vi si arriva a piedi da Broughton Bay (Baia di Broughton) facendo una camminata faticosa sulle dune. La Blue Pool è una piscina naturale creata dalla marea, prediletta da chi pratica il nuoto in acque libere.
Sport acquatici
Il Gower è da molti anni una meta prediletta dai surfisti. Quando le condizioni sono buone, Langland è il break preferito del campione britannico di surf, Gwen Spurlock, ma le onde più affidabili sono a Llangennith sulla punta nordoccidentale del Gower. Interior style in the 1920s
The 1920s was a decade of excitement, exuberance and elegance. The buzz of Hollywood was filtering into the home, and many took to styling spaces that wouldn’t look out of place on the silver screen. The goal was to set a scene that was perfect for a lavish cocktail party, complete with glittering glassware, golden bar carts and sumptuous furniture.
Art Deco (short for Arts Décoratifs) also played a big role in twenties style. After its first showcase in Paris, the bold symmetrical shapes, rich colours and lavish touches of the Art Deco movement made their way into the home.
Along with Art Deco came influences from international travel, which had become more accessible – at least to the very wealthy. These exotic twists from India, East Asia, Africa and Hawaii included precious stones, as well as the now controversial animal skins, ivory, ebony and tortoiseshell. These expensive materials meant that certain styles were only available to the richest of homeowners.
And finally, the Bauhaus school of design opened in 1926, encouraging younger generations to explore artistry and design products fit for the modern age, therefore inspiring a more modernist style.
All of these influences boiled down to a look that was characterised by geometric shapes, bold colours and unique touches, creating a minimalist feeling with a heavy dose of glamour.

Mirrored Surfaces

Your mirror could be displayed on its own, creating either an ornate or a sleek statement, or grouped together with other contrasting mirrors for an exciting gallery effect. Mirrored surfaces can also be introduced in the form of other accessories, such as vases, trinket boxes and trays.
Statement Lights
Just like the mirrors of the 1920s, lights should create a real feature, too. From pendant lights and chandeliers to floor lamps and table lamps, to introduce the style of the twenties through your light fixtures. Popular materials include chrome, brass and glass with an etched or enamelled effect. You could also swap your light switch panels for an elegant metal style to tie in with the rest of the space.

Three passenger trains will today be run by all-female crews in a bid to encourage more women to consider a career in the rail industry.
London
North Eastern Railway (LNER), Southeastern and Great Western Railway (GWR) will operate the female-only services on Friday to mark International Women’s Day. The move comes after 85 per cent of women revealed they have never considered a career in rail, found a LNER poll of almost 900.
An LNER train from Edinburgh to London King’s Cross will have all six of its onboard roles filled by women, including the driver, train manager and chef. The Flying Scotsman service will also be rebranded Flying Scotswoman for the rest of March.
Director Karen Lewis said the industry needs to work harder to promote itself to women and create a more diverse team.
She said: ‘There is a clear need for the industry to work together to demonstrate the unique opportunities on offer with a career in rail, and by doing so to help drive an increase in the number of women in the workplace’.
LNER has a female workforce of 42 per cent compared to an industry average of just 16 per cent.
‘Our diverse workforce is something we’re extremely proud of at LNER and we’re working hard to inspire and attract even more talented women to join the industry,’ she added.
Southeastern Managing Director David Statham said: ‘The fact today’s female train is one of the first shows how much more the rail industry needs to do to and we will continue working with partners like Network Rail to achieve this.’

We implemented our well-rehearsed crisis management protocols to deal with the COVID-19 crisis in late February, having analysed the results of measures put in place in other countries to deal with the threat.
We mobilised our Incident Response team, led by a Senior Director who was dedicated to that role. Daily calls between our internal and external public affairs teams, health and safety, human resources and legal advisers ensured that our decision-making was well-informed and timed appropriately. A daily call with the Operating Board ensured fast decision making and the plc Board was kept fully updated throughout.
A key aspect of our crisis management plan is to communicate effectively with our customers and colleagues. We kept customers updated through regular emails from the Chief Executive, highlighting where we are making changes to shopping practices in our stores and online. We briefed our store management teams daily, informing them as we were making key decisions that affected shopping and working patterns and activities. We engaged with Government and industry bodies on a regular basis and helped to lead, develop and coordinate the grocery industry’s response to the crisis.
We have maintained a disciplined approach to governance and decision-making. We continue to adhere to our crisis management protocols to ensure that we can respond and adapt to the changing needs of our customers. As part of our normal procedures, we will review the management of this crisis in due course to take lessons learned into the future.
Because we sell groceries and other essential items and with Government support to keep our operations running, we have not seen the dramatic decline in demand that has put pressure on other businesses. With our multi brand, multi-channel model we are, in many ways, well positioned to remain relevant and solvent through the COVID-19 crisis.
From ‘response’ to ‘recovery’
In addition to dealing with the short-term actions necessitated by the crisis, we are exploring the impact on our business as we move from the ‘response’ to the ‘recover’ phase. Clearly, the timelines for this are still unclear, but we are working to create a new plan across all areas of our business.
Although demand for food and groceries has been resilient, we expect that we will see continuing impact on our supply chains over the coming months, with supply restricted or disrupted from many European countries and potentially from UK growers struggling to recruit the labour needed to harvest their crops. We will need to determine a critical path for reopening our cafés and food counters; it is possible they will be disrupted for most of the coming financial year. Fuel volumes and sales in our petrol filling station stores have declined significantly and we have adapted the way we operate these sites, reducing opening hours and selling only fuel.

Abbiamo ragguagliato i nostri team di gestione dei punti vendita giornalmente e li abbiamo tenuti informati man mano che prendevamo decisioni chiave che influenzavano i modelli e le attività di acquisto e di lavoro. Abbiamo mantenuto contatti regolari con il Governo e gli organismi del nostro settore, contribuendo alla guida, allo sviliuppo e al coordinamento della risposta alla crisi da parte del settore alimentare.
Abbiamo mantenuto un approccio disciplinato alla governance e ai processi decisionali, continuando a seguire le nostre procedure di gestione della crisi per garantire una risposta flessibile alle necessità mutevoli dei nostri clienti. Come previsto normalmente dalle nostre procedure, al momento opportuno riesamineremo la gestione di questa crisi per fare tesoro delle lezioni imparate per il futuro.
Grazie alla natura dei prodotti che vendiamo (generi alimentari e altri articoli essenziali) e grazie al sostegno ricevuto dal Governo per mantenere l’attività in funzione, non abbiamo assistito al calo drammatico della domanda che ha messo in difficoltà altre aziende. Science fiction is filled with tales of traveling through wormholes. But the reality of such travel is more complicated, and not just because we've yet to spot one.
The first problem is size. Primordial wormholes are predicted to exist on microscopic levels, about 10–33 centimeters. However, as the universe expands, it is possible that some may have been stretched to larger sizes.
Another problem comes from stability. The predicted Einstein-Rosen wormholes would be useless for travel because they collapse quickly.
"You would need some very exotic type of matter in order to stabilize a wormhole," said Hsu, "and it's not clear whether such matter exists in the universe."
But more recent research found that a wormhole containing "exotic" matter could stay open and unchanging for longer periods of time.
Exotic matter, which should not be confused with dark matter or antimatter, contains negative energy density and a large negative pressure. Such matter has only been seen in the behavior of certain vacuum states as part of quantum field theory.
If a wormhole contained sufficient exotic matter, whether naturally occurring or artificially added, it could theoretically be used as a method of sending information or travelers through space, according to Live Science. Unfortunately, human journeys through the space tunnels may be challenging.
"The jury is not in, so we just don't know," physicist Kip Thorne, one of the world's leading authorities on relativity, black holes and wormholes, told Space.com. "But there are very strong indications that wormholes that a human could travel through are forbidden by the laws of physics. That's sad, that's unfortunate, but that's the direction in which things are pointing."
Wormholes may not only connect two separate regions within the universe, they could also connect two different universes. Similarly, some scientists have conjectured that if one mouth of a wormhole is moved in a specific manner, it could allow for time travel.

Localized content engages and triggers sales and customer retention. To make all of this happen, the localization manager is, by nature, a highly cross-functional person.
What Does a Localization Manager Do?
Following the framework and timelines established by the product manager and the marketing or sales department, the localization manager will create a workflow. This can include:
• Determining deliverables and delivery dates,
• Recruiting and contracting with the respective translators,
• Consulting with a localization specialist regarding internationalization and local specifics,
• Preparing glossaries and briefs for the translators,
• Conferring with product managers about potential cultural taboos and no-gos,
• Overcoming those issues by creating specific guidelines for specific product regions.

1.1 Assessment
1.1.1 Evaluate people who present with headache and any of the following features, and consider the need for further investigations and/or referral:
• worsening headache with fever
• sudden-onset headache reaching maximum intensity within 5 minutes
• new-onset neurological deficit
• new-onset cognitive dysfunction
• change in personality
• impaired level of consciousness
• recent (typically within the past 3 months) head trauma
• headache triggered by cough, valsalva (trying to breathe out with nose and mouth blocked) or sneeze
• headache triggered by exercise
• orthostatic headache (headache that changes with posture)
• symptoms suggestive of giant cell arteritis
• symptoms and signs of acute narrow angle glaucoma

I was eight years old when I first said a short sentence in a foreign language, realised that I had been understood and experienced the excitment of communicating with somebody from a different culture. Many years, jobs and qualifications after that day I still feel the same thrill.
After gaining a Degree in Classics from the University of Turin in my native Italy, I started to teach Italian as a Foreign Language, then moved to the UK where I still live with my bilingual family in a house by the sea, in South Wales. I gained an MA in Applied Linguistics (University of East Anglia) and an MA in Translation (Open University) with a final Extended Translation Project on tourism translation.
I have been working for different employers, such as the Open University and the International Baccalaureate Organisation, covering a variety of roles in the field of languages (teacher,translator, examiner, author and trainer) all with one common aim: helping people to communicate across cultures.
My goal as a translator is to make cross cultural communication possible and easy in a world where the ability to communicate is an essential skill both for individuals and businesses.
