Chinese to English: 《中国历史与文明》 (China’s History and Civilization) General field: Social Sciences
Source text - Chinese
Translation - English China’s History and Civilization
History is a river of no return, and even great oceans would be changed into farm-fields by time.
In the eastern part of the glove, there lives an age-old nationality----the Chinese. And here is also the territory of a country----China, which boasts for its 5000 years of history and civilization. It is a land where the Chinese people have lived and died and strived hard for their existence from generations to generations. In the everlasting conquering war between human and nature, glorious history and culture are nourished and the immortal oriental civilization is formed. It is truly a treasure in the river of human society’s history. It is surely a dazzling pearl that shines over the history of human civilization.
When the world embraces China, China touches the world.
Pangu Mountain, with the height of 459 meters above the sea level, is located in the village of Chenzhuan, Miyang County, Henan Province, China. With its grand shape and evergreen trees, the Pangu Mountain is famous for its charming sceneries. Pangu Mountain is also the fountainhead of the legend that has been told for centuries about how God Pangu created the world.
It was believed that in ancient times, the world was nothing but chaos, and with only a crevice in between as the borderline of the earth and sky. At some era that was untold, there came a fiery-red big bird from a faraway place beyond the earth or heaven. Right in the borderline crevice the fiery-red big bird laid an egg. 18000 years had passed before the egg was finally incubated into a fairy. While still inside the egg, the fairy’s arms were clasping and his legs were bending, thus, he got his name: Pangu, which means clasping and bending one’s body in Chinese language. The appearance of Pangu was extremely strange: the head was like a camel’s hump, the mouth and nose was that of a big bird’s, and he also had two wings on the back. With his head bumping the sky and his feet tramping the earth, Pangu still could not make a straight stand. For this giant, the world seemed too small. To break through the endless chaos, Pangu struggled violently and tried his best to tear up the sky and earth. After 1000 years of painstaking work, Pangu finally got a sacred weapon: the sky-chopper, which owns the magic power to split the earth and sky. In a powerful attempt, Pangu chopped at the world of chaos with his sky-chopper. Since then, the chaos was gone forever and the world was divided into the earth and sky. And then, there came the death of our hero: Pangu. The spirit of Pangu flied to heaven and was ordained as the God of Thunder. The body of Pangu, however, was turned into the sun, the moon, stars, winds, clouds, mountains, fields and plants by nature. The world in which we are living today had come into being ever since then.

My name is Louis CXX, and I am from China. I have worked as a translator for nearly 10 years. Thankfully I have been a trust-worthy translator to my bosses and colleagues.
Though experience or data may be important to evaluate a translator, what I cherish most is actually the fact that I love this job. I guess I am talented and interested in being a translator. For this reason, I am confident that the services provided by me will by no means be unacceptable for my clients. I love it, and then you will be able to enjoy satisfactory cost-benefits ratio. Isn't this a reasonable conclusion?
Approximately 5.5 years ago I began to positioned myself as a legal translator. Now I am good at documentation work involving the fields of law and finance, etc. Being a imaginative and curious person I am interested in a lot fields of the human society. However, a definite career path of legal translator will surely help me to become professional, and serve my dear clients well. By the way, I have become a supporter of professionalism over the years.
