Bio
My name is Laura Bruhn. I studied English as a second language in AACI (Asociación Argentina de Cultura Inglesa) in Buenos Aires (From March 1992 through December 1997). Prior to that, I took English classes from 1988 to 1990 at other institutions in my home country, Argentina.

I have been living in the United States since 2002. From February 2004 to October 2006, I worked in a Spanish Immersion Preschool in Chapel Hill, NC as a Director’s assistant, which included tasks such as translations and consecutive interpretations. I attended a multicultural church in Durham, where I performed English>Spanish simultaneous interpretations during the services.

I am currently enrolled in the English>Spanish Translation program at New York University.
I am about to graduate from the Medical Spanish Facilitator Program at Durham Technical Community College. I graduated from the Community Spanish facilitator program in May 2008.

Having been exposed to a second language at an early age has helped me know the English language; and having been inserted in the American society since 2002 has helped me not only be familiarized with American culture, but also helped me familiarize myself with the different cultures/backgrounds found in the Triangle area, which facilitated my development in both interpreting and translating at a professional level.
