In all the dictionaries the only reference I can find to 取り合い is with communication between humans. If that nuance is correct then this would be possibly the point where the two systems interact (where the pump is attached), so I'm thinking "interface dimensions"....

I am not sure by maybe 取り合い means margins.

I thought 取り合い might mean a required space between two things. But I found 取り合い means interface. The following is an example I found on Google search.

So I think Casey's idea, "interface dimensions," is the right answer.
