Ez a bevett magyar verzió. Nem szabad összetéveszteni a release másik értelmével, ami valóban közzétételre / nyilvánosságra hozatalra is utalhat, de így együtt - affidavit and release - arra vonatkozik, hogy a szerződő fél mentesül bizonyos meghatározott felelősségek alól. Az affidavit mindig írásos nyilatkozat, itt az USA-ban gyakran eskü alatt kell tenni. Erre alkalmasint a "jogi" jelzőt szokás használni. Néhol úgy is használják, hogy "jogi nyilatkozat és felelősség alóli mentesítés" (ez kicsit fordításszagú).

Azt még talán érdemes hozzátenni, hogy kifejezés első része, az affidavit, arra vonatkozik, hogy a fél kijelenti, hogy az ügyben való eljárásra (bármi legyen is az) és a nyilatkozat megtételére jogosult, a második része pedig arra szolgál, hogy a másik felet mentesítse a felelősség(ek) / követelések alól - release from liability / claims.
Angol példa:
"The undersigned deponent, being duly sworn, deposes and says on oath that: ...
1. ... (S)he is the court ordered executor/administrator of the estate (the "Estate") of the deceased individual listed on the attached Exhibit A. (the "Decedent")." ...
