English term

assert

English to Chinese Bus/Financial Law: Contract(s)
Thus we cannot assert any rights from the accounts receivable of Synergy Trading Company against the debtor FKW Keller GmbH.

Discussion

Wenjer Leuschel (X) May 25, 2008:
To assert, to maintain, to claim, to affirm, to vindicate...,

To be honest, you may as well put 主张 in place of 伸张. This term is obviously correct and legally acceptable.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Alvin Liu : I think "assert" is similar to "claim" in law documents, should be 主张(权利)。

Thanks for your opinion. However, I am for 主张 because it is perfectly usual among Chinese speakers.
