From a standard power of attorney:
"Er ist befugt, für mich in gesetzlicher Weise ohne Einschränkung jede rechtlich bedeutsame Handlung vorzunehmen, die von mir und mir gegenüber nach dem Gesetz vorgenommen werden kann, und zwar mit denselben Wirkungen, wie wenn ich selbst gehandelt hätte."
I take this to mean that the representative can act in cases where the grantor of the power of attorney performs a legally significant action or acts in response to one performed 'upon' her. Is there a more elegant way of putting this?

"against me" sounds too strong, as we're not talking about the bringing of court action, simply about any activities of daily life. Likewise it is not "bring" so much as "perform".
