1. Stay awake in bed a bit longer reflecting on what I have to do that day
2. Go to the toilet

"Other" in my case. Same pattern every day, unless I'm so ill I cannot walk.

1. Get out of bed immediately, get dressed, go downstairs to office
2. Pick up phone from desk, glance at email in passing to see if any new offers have come in
3. Go into back porch, unlock/open door, assess weather, check outside thermometer
4. Open door into utility room next door, say good morning to dog, give him one tiny snack

6. Put on (him, not me) his LED collar and lead, a task complicated by his determined efforts to give me an affectionate kiss on the mouth when I bend down, and my equally determined efforts to avoid it
7. Stand stock-still and stare at dog pointedly until he gives up pretending that he doesn't know what is supposed to happen, and sits politely in front of the door instead of bouncing around
8. Open the door - we're off!
9. 25 minutes later we are back for a breakfast of kibble (him) and a black coffee (me)

Bring on the day!

Not everything is for public, right?

The first thing I do is say “Hey Siri, cancel the alarm clock” - this is freelancer privilege, snoozing and staying in bed.

Zzzzzzz...... Feb 18

I stay awake for as long as it takes - two or three seconds suffice - to remind myself that I retired from 'active service' many years ago - and then drift back to sleep with a smug smile on my face.

I get up. Then bathroom, breakfast, checking my phone (while still having breakfast) and getting dressed. After all that, depending on what day it is, I either go to Pilates/bodyart, or straight to my desk (and gym in the afternoon).
