Hi everybody

I sent out .ttx files (2007 version) for translation and received 2009 .ttx files back. I'm not able to have the documents converted to (for preview)/saved as Word files; TE wants the original copied into the same folder as the .ttx file, but the original file is indeed there, so I am trying to figure out if there's something else wrong.

Does anyone know if it is possible to receive/process 2009 .ttx files in TE 2007?

Kind regards,
peter

file names Nov 16, 2009

Hi Peter,

Did you check the file names? Make sure that the translator did not change the names of ttx files, e.g. adding _tr or something else at the end.

Selcuk

Yes, the file names are identical ... Nov 16, 2009

Hi Selcuk

Yes, the file names are indeed identical ... It must be something else, and the only thing I can come up with is this suspected incompatibility btw. the 2 versions of TagEditor.

Identical or jsut similar? Nov 16, 2009

Any special characters in the file names?
Please open one ttx file in Notepad and check also the file name saved there - it may contain a different character (encoding differences), which would be simply enough to stop the conversion.

TTX header Nov 16, 2009

Hi Peter,
open the TTX in Windows Notepad and check the content of the SourceDocumentPath="" attribute. The path between the inverted commas points to the folder where the original documents should be located so that Trados can re-create the translation. If the original documents are not in that folder, copy them there and clean them up.

Checked both the file name in Notepad and replaced ... Nov 16, 2009

the .docx file and the .ttx file to the specific path stated in the notepad (also in the properties of the .ttx file), but still no success ...

Another thing is that TagEditor crashes on my usual machine (MS Office 2003/XP)when trying to open this .ttx file ... Maybe it's corrupt? But it does not crash when I open it from a machine with MS Office 2007/Vista.

It's really strange ...

But thanks, Jerzy and Stan, for the suggestions!
