Discussion

Diarmuid Kennan Jun 4, 2010:
Cognitive aid I agree that this is the best suggestion yet
Christopher Schröder Jun 3, 2010:
I think cognitive aid is the best suggestion yet, though I can't help thinking there must be an everyday word that would fit!
Susan Nacey (asker) Jun 3, 2010:
cognitive aid? Cognitive tool" is a good possibility, but it looks like it's mainly used to refer to computer-related tools, something which doesn't fit the context here --although it could be ok as long as the writer clearly explains what he means by the term (this is for a doctoral dissertation, where words like "cognitive" are good!). But what do you all think of "cognitive aid" as a translation?

agree jeffrey engberg : I agree "cognitive" is the best term here. "Brain tool" is another option, but it sounds silly don't it?

agree Andrew Alix : I thought 'extension of their mind' was good until I saw this one. This is absolutely the best term.
