Norwegian to English Bus/Financial Law: Taxation & Customs Registration tax on motor vehicles
This term is in a letter from Oslo Regional Customs Office, regarding a query about registration tax on imported, used motor vehicles. The last sentence reads: "Dersom kun produksjonsår dokumenteres, for eksempel ved fremleggelse av fabrikkens Certificate of Origin som sier produksjonsår 2004, anses motorvognen som en ny overligger som ikke er berettiget aldersfradrag i avgiften."

How about "previous/prior year model"? After searching the websites of UK and US car dealers, I think this fits the bill. If anyone agrees, they're welcome to enter it and get some points into the deal...!

An "overligger" is apparently a model which was manufactured in a previous year. Bjørnar, I realise now that you are on the right track here, but I wonder if "factory model" or some equivalent term that implies that it has been neither sold nor used might be even more accurate. Any comments?

"New unsold car" makes kind of sense to me. I you only show the Certificate of Origin, the car will not be regarded as an imported second-hand car, but as a new car that was bought by the dealer in 2004 and not sold before the current year.
