depending on the number of tooth surfaces

THere are 5 different tooth surfaces, apparently: mesial (the side facing the adjacent tooth immediately forward of the tooth in question), distal (the side facing the adjacent tooth behind the tooth in question), buccal (the side of the tooth facing the cheek), lingual (the side facing the tongue), and occlusal (the chewing surface). See reference given below.

面数 multi-surface ?

In Google searches I see that there are references to "single-surface" and "multi-surface" in relation to dental fillings, so I am guessing that 面数 refers to multi-surface.

An amalgam or resin restoration placed the same day as a crown on the same tooth is disallowed as part of the procedure. If the dentist submits for a single surface filling after the crown is placed, pay for the filling. If the dentist submits for a multi-surface filling after the crown is placed, disallow.

FYI

A silver amalgam filling on one or two surfaces averages $75 -$160; for three or more surfaces it's $120 -$300 or more.
