Japanese term
バッティング (could be パッティング)
Japanese to English

Cosmetics, Beauty
バッティング
**Please be aware that there is the possibility that this is not exactly the right word: I am dealing with a hard-to-read hand-written document, so I may not be reading some of the words right: it could be バッティング or パッティング.**
This is a beauty diary, of how a woman takes care of her skin. She is describing how she washes her face, etc.
Anyway, my question is, what is she going to do for 20 minutes? What would be an English translation of バッティング/パッティング?
Thanks.

In answer to your "notes from asker", YES, it sounds odd. All of it.
But that's because I'm a GUY.
OK, seriously, because you have elipses standing in for some of the text,
I can't vouch for 100% accuracy, but with 90% confindence I will say that
she is patting her face for 20 minutes with cotton makeup pads.

: i was about to go with 'padding', backed with some references, however; 'patting' sounds more accurate here. [btw, is it '20 minutes' or 'ventile'?] [added] やや、ventile = 20th percentile

Thanks again, mon amis. But what does "ventile" mean? Is that French?

: i wonder how i would get anything done if I had to spend 20 minutes a day patting my face with cotton makeup pads :-)

But you'd pat your wife's face for her, if she asked. Wouldn't you?!

: "Patting" is a kind of gentle facial massage by way of patting the face. I remember seeing a TV prog where a woman was complaining because her HUSBAND spent so much time"patting" and was totally vain. lol.

Yes. Kurt Hammond knows.

: Yes, there's really nothing else it could be but patting. Note they're saying 20 mins is ideal -- still strangely long, but the wording sort of allows that most people won't achieve that.
