Japanese to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Software
From comments in computer source code. Here's the whole section:

* ディレクトリサービスに登録する情報のインターフェイス.
* 公開の範囲を書けるようにする.(β2以降)

What does 公開の範囲を書けるようにする.(β2以降) mean? Any idea what β2 stands for? β2 is not part of an equation, and does not appear in any other place in the code.

Thank you!

be able to define the range of distribution (by the second beta release)

β means "beta".

A beta release is a 'not quite ready for prime time' test release of a software product. An Alpha release is a less ready version which is usually for proof of concept or to find the big bugs.
Beta releases are usually designed to fish out any leftover bugs or find any other surprises.

B2 here means "beta 2" - which is the second beta release of the software. This is sometimes refered to as a 'release candidate'

By this time, pretty much all the things that can be worked out should be worked out. If there are any remaining bugs or 'known issues' they should be documented before the final release.

The sentence therefore means "be able to define the range of public release" for the second beta. The idea is decide who will be getting access to the product. Beta releases are usually limited to a smaller population, typically the best customers or those with technical expertise to report back on problems.

Please note that B2 doesn't mean anything in English; you'll have to write it out as "second beta release"

Note - there is a chance the phrase is not referring to release of the product itself but 公開 of parameters somehow related to your context. In this case, it would mean to decide which of these will be announced or made publicly visible, and to do so by the time of the second beta release.

agree Maynard Hogg : These days shipping products are often not ready for prime time. Makes me ashamed to be in software development.
