在罗马人的神殿里，农神的样子象一个老人，有时拿着一把象征丰收的镰刀，这个形象与现代的时间老人(Father Time)很相似。这一点不是合，因为“克洛诺斯”(Cronus)与希腊语中的“时间”chronos在拼写和读音上很相似。“克洛诺斯”(Cronus)假如开始并不代表时间，后来也获得了这一意义。Cronus和chronos的读音双关也许可以解释为何Cronus吃后代，因为，正如谚语所说：“时间吞噬一切”。
