English term

Robotic Heart

English to Chinese Medical Medical: Cardiology
The artificial or “robotic” heart has a chamber for hydraulic fluid and one for blood, separated by a membrane.. A motorized pump moves hydraulic fluid in and out of the chambers, and that fluid moves the membrane to let blood flow through. Embedded sensors automatically adapt blood flow to a person’s needs in any given moment. For example, if a person’s exercising, then blood flow will increase.

I am wondering whether the author uses the term "robotic heart" because the device can adjust the flood flow according to the patient's activities. Thanks in advance.

I am now convinced that "机械心“ or “机械心脏” is the answer: 法国人工心脏首次商业化 资本涌入“机械心” (https://finance.sina.com.cn/tech/2021-07-20/doc-ikqciyzk6592...

@ClearWater Ah, what a pity that I closed this entry a couple of hours ago. Otherwise, you would have had a chance to propose a different translation. Thank you for contributing to a better understanding of the concept in the discussion session though. "机械心脏" is a very good translation. I like it because it leaves out the confusion whether a "robotic heart" means a mechanic heart in a human or the heart in a robot in the target language. Now think of it, my dad's first response to my question was "把一个机器心脏植入人体" (see my note to Randy). Whether it being "机械" or "机器," he intuitively avoided the term "机器人." Kudos to you anyway, though no KudoZ point this time.
clearwater Aug 27, 2021:
clearwater Aug 27, 2021:
Robotic往往隐含了automatic(即“自动机的或自动化的”)这层意思。

This literature illustration is inspired by Isaac Asimov's robotic short "Segregationist", which tells the future of a doctor trying to persuade a patient to use a bionic heart instead of a robotic heart. Doctors would rather humans and robots insist on their appearance rather than become similar, and the end of the article found that the doctor is a robot. The article explores the relationship between humans and robots according to the rules of the three laws of robotics. They will have emotional collisions because of their different identity cognitions. In such a ridiculous plot, it brings me a huge emotional shock and produces an epiphany,so I use a combination of materials to express a sense of conflict and chaos.

Thank you again for your contribution.

Note from asker:

If it can sense the body's needs and pump accordingly, then it is a smart artificial heart

I don't think the author uses the term "robotic heart" because the device can adjust the flood flow according to the patient's activities, because robots have different levels of sophistication. Some robots are quite rudimentary.

A Google search of "robotic heart" yielded no relevant results in the first 3 pages. The results were all "robotic heart surgery (robotic-assisted heart surgery)".
Note from asker:
Hello Kiet, good catch. You are right about different sophistication levels for robots. Haha, I now feel a bit (just a bit) guilty for misleading in my question. But I have to agree with you that "robotic" doesn’t seem to mean the same thing as “smart.”
