Dutch term

BRN

Dutch to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
This abbreviation appears in a company description, which specifies the name of the company (in this case a bank), its "Pers.nr" (which should be "persoonsnummer"), its "stamnr." ("stamnummer"), and its **BRN**.

The "BRN" item is followed by a five-digit number. Could anyone tell me what it stands for??
Proposed translations (English)

Discussion

Dave Calderhead Dec 15, 2005:
even more hits for BedrijfsRegisatratieNummer - company registration number,
although 5 digits seem too few for most numbers displayed, unless the bank has was registered in very early days of registration
Dave Calderhead Dec 15, 2005:
Change of answer to possibility of BankRelatieNummer:

Bedrijfs registratie nummer

Like Dave already suggested. The 5 digits wouold fit, too. (Banks and insurance companies have BFIC-numbers, and those are only 5 digits)

Hi Dave, I wasn't referring to BIC codes, but to the BFIC number. (Banking, Finance and Insurance Committee)
Peer comment(s):

agree Dave Calderhead : Have to - as I suggested it 11 hours earlier - incidentally it is not a BIC code, which are alpha-numeric with a predominance of the alpha and at least 6 characters. see my added note

see my added note - Not BIC but BFIC code (Banking, Finance and Insurance Committee)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: ""Bedrijfsregistratienummer" makes perfect sense in this context. Thanks! Also thanks to Dave, who included the same suggestion."

On reflection, and reminded by titi, it is probably
Bank RelatieNummer
- i.e. Bank client no. for an identifier separate from the account number
Thnks for the wise coment Titi!

Think I'd plump for BedrijfsRegisterNummer or BedrijfsRegistratieNummer = Company registration number

neutral Wouter van Kampen : een postgironummer met 5 cijfers is ontzettend oud of een speciaal nummer voor inzamelacties e.d. Ik heb hier grote twijfels maar ook geen betere oplossing.

Agreed - must be bank registration number - see notes added (:-{)>
agree Pierre Grabowski (X) : yep. BRN in HR = Bankrekeningnummer or bank account number. But 5 digits???

Thanks, Pierre. (:-{)> I think it is company or bank registration number with the 5 figures.
