agree MElHelw : Have also to mention that Ibn El Muqafa' is not the author. He adapted Tales of Bidpai بيدبا into Arabic. That is what we studied in primary school and confirmed by the net.

yes, his book is a triumph of Arabic translation under the Abbasids. The original tales are from India and Ibn Al-Muqaffa' himself was not Arab but Persian. These stories are still popular today in India in their original form.
