لأول مرة أعي وأدرك إدراكا حقيقيا صوت طفل في بيتنا، أصبحت عمًّا قبل دخولي الخامسة، وهذه فائدة من يأتي متأخرا في العائلة. هدى وهبة أيضا لا تسعهما الفرحة والغيرة في نفس الوقت، فهذا الطفل أحرق كرتهما وصار محط أنظار واهتمام أبي وأمي. أصبح "عز" هو اسم هذا الحفيد بدلا من "عزالدين
I'm guessing this an idiom that means something along the lines of 'stole their thunder' or 'rained on their parade'?

Card the same English word is used in Arabic dialect and once a word becomes popular, people start to conjugate it as per the sentence.
so you see : كرتهما , The plural form of two مثنى

Burned their (both) world, ruined their (both) world (globe)
What I think is the word here is كرة not كرت and meaning would be the child has shaken the world of parents, in terms of responsibilities and and taking care of it. كرت does not fit here, and not the thunder or rain in my opinion, كرة simply means globe or ball.
Example sentence:
لا تحمل كرة الأرض على رأسك
الأرض هي كروية الشكل، ليست مسطحة
Something went wrong...
