Arabic term

الخيول الأصيلة

Arabic to English Other Other
في مضامير الخيل، تعلـّم الشيخ ناصر، أن الخوف يصنع الأيدي المرتعشة، وأن الخيول الأصيلة تأنف من أن تنقاد للأيدي المرتعشة
Does this refer only to thoroughbreds, or can it mean all horses of high pedregree or is there some other term?

Discussion

Sajjad Hamadani Sep 27, 2008:
The Thoroughbreds are not purebreds, they are actually a cross breed of English, native mares and imported Arabian stallions.They are called hot blood or warm blood race horses. My neighbor is a big fan of Thoroughbreds just because they are part Arabians

agree Maureen Millington-Brodie : definitely, meaning purebred (Arabian) horses, they are famous for having to be ridden "tactfully" with "quiet hands" and not "heavy-handedly"

Peer comment(s):

agree Fuad Yahya : In this context, "purebreds" (one word) would most probably be the intended term. Thoroughbred horses make up a very different category. I doubt if the writer knows the difference, but the asker is well-advised to find out from the client, just in case.
