Discussion

Sun letter You are right about that, Mohamed. I hate to write any sun letter with the "lam" but I only went for it because this is what I found used. If you and I search that much without finding much references, I doubt that the name is set in stone somewhere :) It will not matter much. My only concern is having to submit another document which has the name of that town too. You want to make sure that the same spelling is used in both.
Mohamed Ghazal (asker) Jun 17, 2011:
Lamis I was thinking more Tabla, without the Al, as in Cairo and Latakia, etc.
Also to avoid the At-Tabla Vs Al-Tabla problem. What do you think?
Mohamed Ghazal (asker) Jun 17, 2011:
Lamis Yes, I know. I did the same thing and got the same result. So, I was hoping that one of our translators would be familiar with the actual town.
Lamis Maalouf Jun 17, 2011:
Tricky! The town's name is tricky because it is the same as that of the famous instrument :) Every reference I found was about دربكة and not the place in question.

al-Tabla

It seems that the name is written as al-Tabla.
First I found it in Arabic,
http://www.landcivi.com/new_page_178.htm
It seems to be of importance archeologically.
Then I saw it in this
http://books.google.com/books?id=lqqB_lkkhJ4C&pg=PA280&dq=al...
as one of the neighborhoods of Aleppo.
Something went wrong...
