Discussion

Yasser El Helw Feb 15, 2008:
Be careful! Why should a school issue a certificate stating that someone was not awarded a degree and why should such a person wish to have this certificate translated!?!

2 different answers: assigned and awarded /granted

The registration number is usually "assigned" as in this example:

Welcome to OHSU School of Nursing Online Registration. For New Students:. Your user ID is a unique number assigned to you which begins with a "U". ...
www.ohsu.edu/son/student/registration.shtml - 25k - Cached - Similar pages

But, upon completion of a program of studies, you are "awarded" (as mentioned previously by Saleh) or 'granted" (as mentioned previously by 2 responders) a certificate or diploma.
