Cómo dices la verificación no es sólo para alimentos, sino también medicamentos, cosméticos... Sin embargo, coloqué la palabra inocuidad para esta traducción en particular que trata de alimentos; pienso que ambas opciones pueden ser correctas.

: además de alimentos hay cosméticos y agropecuarios, sust. químicas, medicamentos y dispositivos, etc. (Aunque es cierto que su documento se refiere a alimentos-'snacks'). No hablaría de "inocuidad" sino de "seguridad" en general.

Porque no tan solo es la inocuidad o seguridad del producto, hay otros parámetros:
Etiquetado, envasado, certificados de calidad, etc. Lo dice arriba:
"FDA-regulated products imported into the U.S. must comply with all of the FDA's laws and regulations. The importer is responsible for making sure these products comply with all U.S. requirements."
Además de los permisos de importación:
