Arabic term

الكوة

Arabic to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
Hi everyone,

I'm working on a Sudanese text, and in this scene the woman in a mud hut.

I wanted to confirm if كوة here means skylight?

وبباقي الطين بلطت الغرفة من الداخل لتغلق الشروخ ونزعت الخرق التي سدت بها الكوة حتى تدخل الشمس

Thanks!

wall hole/window

The word كوة means a wall hole or a window.

I believe "skylight" is not the accurate choice here because "a skylight" is a hole in the roof, but كوة is a hole in a wall, so the translation should be " a wall hole or window".
