EricBT May 17, 2010:
I agree with Glen You can find the same mistake here:
"The Hebrew Online Twitter is the twit to follow! Get instant access to every blog post, newsletter and news from HebrewOnline.com all in one place and as ..."
www.hebrewonline.com/resources.asp
Glen McCulley May 17, 2010:
"tweet" should be a pretty ubiquitous term by now...
Glen McCulley May 17, 2010:
but why then would you be expected "to follow" the twit?! I just don't think your wordplay applied here. It's nothing more complicated than a tweet that's been retranscribed 'twit' in the (Chinese?) original.
kashew May 17, 2010:
Twits and nerds! And someone who doesn't twitter is called a twit (via) [fr] Et celui qui n'utilise pas twitter est appelé un twit (crétin) ...

It's all beyond me!
Glen McCulley May 17, 2010:
er... er... I don't see that wordplay - can you explain?
kashew May 17, 2010:
Slang! Hi! As you twig, there's wordplay in there! It will necessarily be lost in translation! Unless the person really is a berk!

tweet

"suivre les tweets" + twitter: gets you 58000 googles
"suivre les twits" + twitter: gets you 1,120 googles
Example sentence:

Personnalisez Twitter en choisissant qui suivre, puis visualisez leurs tweets au fur et à mesure qu'ils les envoient

Peer comment(s):

agree kashew : Now it's clear! Like frangling "swit" for sweat(shirt)!

neutral writeaway : La touite de Schubert sounds a bit fishy.... ;-)
