Export the Trados memory containing the content of the file (your translation) into TTX, then convert it using Olifant into TXT.

Neither TTX, nor TXT, but TMX Mar 3, 2011

SDL Trados Studio's translation memories only support the export into TMX.
1. Export this TM into TMX
2. Load the TMX into WordFast.
That should be working.

And of course you are right! One of my fingers failed to listen to me.

Anyway, I'm happy I could help.

export into TMX Mar 8, 2012

Dear all,

Maybe a stupid question, but how do you export into TMX?

This needs to be done in Studio 2009/2011, obviously:

Open Translation Memory

I know I'm revisiting a very old thread, but if anyone sees this: does this mean you have to own Trados in order to export the file for it to be read by WordFast?

I'm on the verge of buying my first CAT tool, have heard good things about all of them, but I'm wondering how to work on the market at large if file formats are not cross-program compatible. In other words, if you need to use Trados to export a .sdltm file into a useable format for WordFast, that means you have to own both programs.

I appreciate anyone who can clarify this for me! Sincerely.

No need for Trados Jun 20, 2018

If you don't own Trados and you have an sdltm file then somebody must have sent it to you and they must have Trados. Simply ask them to send you a tmx file instead. In 12 years, I've never had anybody unable or unwilling to do this. Tmx is intended for just that purpose. When you have finished your translation, clean the document into a new TM and export/save this to a tmx to send back to them.
