Dear all,

I am translating a news article on a film festival.

What would be the best translation for the phrese in this context. I've tried to translate it as:

who is not showing in public

And I am thinking of another translation:

.... who is keeping himself out of sight

What do you think? Please if you can provide me with any comments/feedback or if you have any better translation, I'll be very thankful to you. Any explanations are much welcome.

Many thanks.

gone into hiding

The reason for him playing a low profile and staying away from public sight is mainly to do with security -being in the opposition of the mighty Russians- (IMHO). The fact is also that his documentary had already been stolen (although he has already sent a copy to the festival) so there is reason to believe his life might be in danger. Thus him now playing a low profile and gone into hiding.
